Got to try out my newly acquired bottle of 3d super pre soak. Only used it in a foam cannon, then used 3D super soap for the bucket wash.

Used an electric pressure washer since i was indoors. Im sure my gas one would produce more/thicker foam since its a higher gpm.

Anyway, i thought it worked well. It got all the heavy salt/ debris off. In some spots it seemed like it took off/broke down some road film, but honestly im not sure. You can still see the road film in the bumper pic.

Its a first of this type of soap that i have used, so i have nothing to compare it to...meaning something like bilt hamber or the griots surface prep.

The second foam pic is after 5 min dwell time.
Curious to see in the spring how it would affect a lsp on a non coated vehicle.

I've been using this lately for when I want to "start over". I used it ahead of a full clay + polish and again on a car that's basically never maintained. Each time they were squeaky clean.

I will be using it this weekend again to strip a vehicle for a new LSP. I will admit I don't pay a lot of attention to get the dilution ratio perfect in the cases above, but each time it definitely diminished anything on the car (if not completely removed everything). None of them are coated.

This weekend it will go up against 8 week old PA Rapidwaxx. I'll keep closer tabs to see if it didn't remove anything but I'm thinking based on my lack of dilution monitoring, it'll kill that right away.

I will admit I've used BH Touchless just twice and Griot's Surface Prep only once so it's hard to compare. Also my intent with Touchless has been to clean vs my intent with Pre-Soak and Surface Prep to strip. There's a newer video out there with MP using this as surface prep too - that's where I got the idea to try it actually.

Good review though - thanks!

I really need to get a foam sprayer to try bh touchless in. I currently use it in a regular pump sprayer which is fine but in the shade on a cool car it it still drys so damn fast. I can only spray half the car at most before i have to rinse b4 it drys.

Dont want to try in a foam cannon cuz it would be so expensive lol

What do you think of BHTL vs the 3D presoak?

I do feel like bh touchless does a better job as a prewash at breaking down and eating away at heavy traffic film. This winter will be a true test though.

I think ill still will use presoak. Weither it be bucket wash or a prewash. Just depends on the situation really.

But just to add...and take it for what its worth, ive so far never been more amazed at a products ability to clean a surface free of contaminants than i was with carpro descale. Even as just as a prewash. Now i know its not for continuous all the time use and im not using it that way.

But i had so many contaminants that i could feel on surface when washing the buick that nothing else so far removed. Thought i was going to have to wait and reclay/buff in spring. Nope descale took car of it.

So as an update 3D Pre-Soak definitely diminished the protection I had. I did forget though that under the PA Rapidwaxx I also had Sonax Spray Sealant. I think if this had been a bit older (only been on the garaged car about a month) it would have killed it.

I was doing a clay and polish though so I moved on after the Pre-Soak.

Good to know. I had Descale arrive yesterday so looking forward to trying it!

Yeah I use AutoFoam, Descale and then a ph neutral soap to mimic ValuGard ABC decontamination wash system.

It consists of a Acid wash as step 1, alkaline wash as step 2 and ph neutral final wash.

Sometimes I replace the AutoWash with Mckee’s Coating prep soap if really contaminated to use as a contact wash.

It's about time an alternative to ABC came on the market. I wonder, like with ABC, if the néed for claying can be skipped if the finish isn't too bad with these three washes

The McKee's Coating Prep Wash looks really good. Is it similar to Reset?

It’s an alkaline soap. definitely strips LSP’s. I use it for decontamination washes mainly. Is it in the ABC method for pre coating or LSP’s

All I can tell you is my car needed claying before the process and I would not coat after.

Also my car hasn’t been clayed by me yet so it definitely not in “isn’t too bad crowd”. White paint has alllowed me to be lazy as it has been a weird yeAr.

Do pre-washes like BH/3D/Lift etc. have to be foamed or can you use a Marolex? Is the idea behind foaming them to allow the product to sit on the surface longer vs sprayer the solution on?

I use bh touchless in a regular garden pump sprayer. While it works, it drys way to quickly imo. So at some point i will purchase a big ik foam pumper
