I heard that this product seems to offer more anti-static ability than the 425 spray. I often wondered if they were all to similar in design and function, so I requested a bottle.

Immediately noted was that the included sprayer offers much to much product. I will however note that wipe up was easy even with over application and no apparent streaking on black even in direct sunlight. The product seems a bit thicker than 425 and lays on the surface differently. After the first wipe there is a noticable slickness in its feel almost as if the towel is floating. There seems to be no attributable scent to it, and blue coloring is nice and stands out amongst other detail sprays.

After use the finish was crisp and reflective. It did not have any glow like carnauba based sprays but nowhere near plastic in look either. Since its poly based it stands to reason. It clearly looked nice and made drying choirs easy in Florida sun and removed very light water spotting. I would NOT however use as a dedicated quick detailer as I noticed absolutely no cleaning power. I am anxious with a daily driver that sits outside 24/7 to see what the anti-static abilities can do, as it seems a dust magnet. I also used the spray on the wheels while drying to test its ability to hold brake dust above the surface for easy washing next week.

All in all, I must say I was pleased with the spray. With a thick MF towel and a wipe or two its gone and noticable slickness was present. With darker cars, the crisp clean look is also a + . I do now feel that without a doubt the spray is different than 425 and will have its place at home and within the FinishKare line. I wonder how well it works with their sealants and look forward to additional reviews in the future on this line.

So in closing ... try Finish Kare. So far Pink Wax, 425, and 146 are nice. My hope is that some of you will also try it and piggyback onto this review with your thoughts and followups.

I used on the Saturn .... havent touched the Vette in months. Sitting under a cover in garage. I literally have around 700 miles on car since beginning of year.

Do you think if the #146 had the sprayer that the #425 has would help at all??Thanks for the write up Killr

In all fairness, my original bottle of 425 is from Finish Kare directly before Autogeek became the authorized reseller for the line. I think that transferring 146 to one of those professional bottles where you can limit the amount used (dialing in) would save alot of product as a little goes along way. I would also prefer more of a misting with detail sprays in general.

I'm in the same boat as you .I bought the sample kit they put together on there site then bought the full size 425 after i tried the sample kit.I keep the sample size in the vette for touch up.Maybe AG can look into the Fk sample kit it has glaze, pink wax, leather treament, and a couple of other products i thought it was a good value for the money.

Thanks for the great review! I have been looking at this line lately. Haven't tried anything yet.

Hopefully your findings as far as anti-static properties comes on top of FK 425! I just got some 425 and have found it does decrease dusting a bit but the sprayer stinks. It is a stream, not a spray (black sprayer) and makes it hard to apply the right amount.

How does the look of 146 compare to 425?

I was using the exact same sprayer, and too revisited it as thought it was set to stream. Thats alot of spray ... I need a spritz or mist setting. (smiles)

Over the afternoon as 146 sat in the sun (it was 85-90 all day) it stayed crisp and reflective with no glow. It looked nice, but different that 425. I would now say 425 is closer to a spray wax in looks.

Thanks for the review Scott, but where's the pictures? ;)

Ya, I always like to see that beauty vette or is that beauty and the vette? :Picture:

its my daily driver the Saturn Aura ... wife took it to run an errand or I'd go take a snap. Still looked great today.

I would NOT however use as a dedicated quick detailer as I noticed absolutely no cleaning power.

Based on the product description for FK146:

Finish Kare Anti Static Poly Wipe Finish Restorer Spray Detailer also contains mild cleaners to remove dust, smudges, light soil, oxidation, hard water spots, and bugs.

Isn't this the real difference between FK146 and FK425 is FK146's cleaning capability? If FK146 doesn't clean well then how are FK146 and FK425 different?

Thanks!

I dont find either to clean well at all actually ... they both seem more like gloss sprays (detail sprays) with one leaning more towards the look of a wax (425) versus a sealant (146).

Thank you for the clarification. Its too bad the FK146 doesn't clean well -- sometimes I find myself between not wanting to do a full wash, but too 'dirty' to do a QD either.

Based on other threads in the forum it seems like the FK425 gets the nod over the FK146 -- is this how you see it?

Thanks again!

I think it is completely the end-user's choice ... if you like a warmer wax look the 425. If you like a crisper glossy look then 146. Dont use either on a hot surface or you might get some streaking.

Well I revisited this product on my silver daily driver this weekend and very much impressed as was the wife. The metallic was heavily noted in direct sunlight and a very reflective surface with noted slickness.

I prefer this much more on lighter and metallic colors. Its one of those products that deserves another look.

Hummmm, never really heard much about this one.......425 always seems to get the popularity.
