Quirky Habits When Detailing

I will admitt to one quirky habit when washing my vehicles. Do my washing in my driveway. My garage is integral to my house which means there is just a wall that separates my basement from my garage. My basement happens To be finished and also contains my laundry room which I also use during the course of washing my vehicles.

So as soon as one enters the basement from the garage there is a powder room immediately to the right. After I complete my washing and on the way to the laundry room I will dump whatever remaining wash soap or rinseles wash I have in my wash bucket into the toilet then take the toilet brush and give the bowl a few go arounds. Firgure it's better than dumping the stuff down the drain and keeps the toilet clean.

Anybody else have any unrelated to detailing habits that the engage in when detailing?

I water my thirstier plants (read: roses) with the water I rinse my MF towels in after they've been soaking in detergent. The water isn't dirty or even that soapy, and I figure it's better than dumping down the pipes or sewer.

A couple of things come to mind -

- My day off, and therefore wash day, is also bin collection day. After the wash, I will empty my soapy water into the now empty bin to keep them clean. This is especially worthwhile now that our general waste (ie not recycling or green waste) is now only collected fortnightly, as you can imagine the bin ends up being quite smelly. I also use up dud products for this role, usually soaps that don't win me over.

Sometimes I go nuts for the camera....................

- ColourLock leather products can also work well on my gorgeous cherry-red Dr. Martens..........................

- Using a coating or spray sealant on new tools.......................

- Using a rinse-less wash as windshield washer fluid.....................

I tried ONR in the windshield washer reservoir, but it didn't work out. It left the windshield streaky, and the wipers were prone to chattering. I did reverse the process though, I made a glass cleaner out of windshield washer concentrate. I still use it.

I use Carpro Ech2o on the glass shower screens and mirrors in the bathrooms, I've also tested out NV Boost V2 and Carpro Clarify Phobic, but I've gone back to Ech2o. It makes them so easy to clean, just a quick squeegee and a wipe down with a Bunnings glass cloth.

When I used to use Meg's Gold Class I would add a capful of Duragloss 931 Rinseless Wash, I wasn't impressed with it as a RW, and wanted to use it up. It made using Gold Class feel a lot like using Reset, it may not have had the cleaning power, but it certainly has the feel.

I'd probably suggest using a surfactant-based rinse-less such as N-914, DIY or Dry Spell would be better suited than a polymer based product like ONR. I did wonder how ONR would function in that role, guess I won't be rushing to find out.

I only did it after seeing a suggestion somewhere online. Just goes to show, you shouldn't copy everything you see online. I had to go and buy a manual plunger pump to drain the reservoir.

What dilution did you use?

I've been doing N-914 at the waterless wash ratio, 128:1.

It was quite a while back, but I think I put about 50ml in, probably because that's the amount of washer fluid concentrate they recommended, and the reservoir is about 5L from memory, so is that around 100:1?

Our electrical griddle had oil that could not be removed so used Optimum Power Clean to get rid of it yesterday. I liked cleaning kitchen cabinets with ONR and even wiped down some exterior siding with ONR and it kept it cleaner.

DFB,
Good tip on using left over on the garbage can.
You win, thats the cleanest lawnmower I've ever seen.

Ha ha, they are only that clean once..............from brand new. They work for a living, so they get banged up pretty quickly. I will say, the one I ceramic coated, the dust simply doesn't stick, a quick hit with the blower and its clean.

LOL....too many to list
