I've been researching the business side of detailing for a long time. I have a few books, and one talks about using AIO waxes for light color cars and 3-step for darker colors.

I for one have never heard this, I didnt think it mattered what color the car was, paint is paint!

My questions are:

Is it true to use AIO's for light color cars and 3-steps for dark?

If not, should the detailer themselves decide which they will use on all cars, or should it be offered for the customers choice?

And lastly if its up to the customer how much should one charge for each one (i.e AIO 50 3-step 75)?

I'm guessing the person that wrote what you read re: AIO vs 3 steps was thinking that since AIO's generally have low or no abrasive/cut to it and not gonna remove much in the way of swirls then it's ok for light colors since the swirls are harder to see.

IMO-as a professional detailer you are prepared to offer both (and then some) based on the customer needs and budget. A car enthusiast is more likely to fork over for a full siwrl removal where as a soccor mom just wants the car to be shiney with a clean interior.

Hope this helps
