Hey guys. Looking to make my first step into something a little higher end than your typical mothers/turtlewax/meguiars offerings without breaking the bank. I've been doing some research but I've been a little overwhelmed by all the options. Currently leaning towards something along the lines of natty's blue or p21s concours but I'm open to suggestions. The car as it sits has been clayed, compounded with meg's ultimate compound using a da orbital, and sealed with wolfgang deep gloss sealant. I'd like to add something on top to give it that final pop. Durability isn't a huge concern as the car is always garaged and very rarely driven in the rain. Here are a couple pics to give you an idea of what I am working with. It's a dark blue/green metallic colour that appears almost black in the shade but much lighter when the sun hits it.

Thanks

Natty's blue is awesome! Great depth and shine and super easy to use. Best overall wax I've ever used

I personally like chemical guys butter wet wax, gives good shine for me as well as being easy to apply and remove

Sam,

I've tried a lot of waxes, and there are many very good ones below $40.

P21S Blue Cap

Pros: very easy to use. Buttery. Looks excellent. Slick. Can get the S100 version for like 20 bucks. Comes with an applicator.
Cons: not super long lasting

Nattys Blue

Pros: Cheap, easy to use. Can actually see it haze on black paint.
Cons: container sucks.

Collinite 915

Pros: lasts a very long time. Pretty easy to use. Crazy beading
Cons: none really. Need a screwdriver to open container.

Hi, welcome to AutoGeekOnline! Nice looking Porsche.

As you have sealed it with Wolfgang Deep Gloss Paint Sealant, I would add with Wolfgang Fuzion or Pinnacle Souveran on top. You can get either version in smaller sizes to try out.

Wolfgang Fuzion Estate Car Wax contains real carnauba wax and paint sealant polymers to protect paint. ultimate show car wax, auto wax, paste wax,

Pinnacle Souveran Paste Carnauba Wax is Brilliant on Red- Awesome on Black! Souvern is hand poured, one container at a time, and boxed with an

:props: Natty's Blue is some pretty good wax! I have a jar and I also have the Natty's Red. Both are excellent waxes. I would also consider Natty's Red. IMO ever so slightly better than the Blue. One positive for both....NO GHOSTING or HAZING from the Sun!

I have P21S too it is a great wax. Same as above with the Blue and Red.

My guess you can't go wrong with either and you will be happy with whatever wax you choose. Add the Natty's Red too!!

Thanks for all the suggestions everyone. The collinite products (476 and 845) look to have great reviews but they seem to be marketed heavily based on their sealant like properties. I already have the wolfgang sealant so they seem somewhat redundant? Still kinda leaning towards the natty's because of the price. I can't really justify spending all that money on fuzion, souveran et al.

Regarding red vs blue, blue is supposed to be better for darker colors, correct? So I would be better off with the blue? Do both of them play well with metallics?

Wait, isn't Collinite 845 a carnauba wax, not sealant.

It is but on the store here its in the sealant section with the other synthetics. That and the fact its supposed to last for months and months is what led me to believe it was very similar to what I already have on the car.

I'll toss in the obligatory plug for dp max wax. Which appears to now be McKee's 37 carnauba wax.

I noticed you said you compounded with ultimate compound. Did you do a final polish with something like ultimate polish? The wax only gives you that last couple percent of the look your after. The real look is in the prep and polishing

Trademark carnauba paste wax - Made with pure carnauba wax and advanced polymers.

I did not polish it afterwards. I actually bought the whole kit that came with ultimate polish and polishing pad as well but it looked pretty damn good after the compounding (no swirls, restored clarity etc) so I skipped straight to the sealant. I assumed it would be a ton of extra work for maybe 5% better results at that point. Am I really missing out on much?

Finish Kare 2685 Pink Wax, car wax, polymer carnauba wax, auto wax, finish care

~$18.00

I know you wanted Carnauba Wax
recommendations...but to achieve
that final pop you talk about here:

sealed with wolfgang deep gloss sealant.

I'd like to add something on top
to give it that final pop

...I personally would apply a
second coat of WDGPS.

IMO You can't go wrong with either Blue or Red....both are excellent. So whatever you decide to use should be fine. Both are fine for dark colors and metallics.

Got ya. I know the AG website has the stuff protecting for 5 months. Wow, for a canuaba wax that's incredible

Your car does look really good, but there maybe more than you realize left on the table. I've though the same as you before, only to see a difference I didn't feel possible after giving it one more step. You can't really tell without trying though.

Zach in this thread did a good job showing a 50:50 between compounding and polishing.

Wow, certainly a difference, at least in that instance. To be completely honest I was so gassed after compounding that I got lazy and went straight to the sealant. For the compound I went slowly and very thoroughly worked small sections at a time, overlapping many, many times both horizontally and vertically. It took me at least 5-6 hours and I couldn't fathom doubling that for the polish at that point lol
