Hello guys,

I need new microfibre drying towels and paint towels but with so many options i'm stressing my brain out on which ones to choose!

I'm looking at the guzzler but can't figure out if I should buy the basic one of spend the extra money on the HD or supreme ? Also whats the difference between the supreme and HD ?

Which would be good microfibre towels for paint? I just need ones to use when using a clay bar, buffing off wax and polish. I'm happy to spend extra if need be but i'd love to save some money if I can.

Can I just clean my microfibre towels and drying towels by soaking it in hot water and vinegar ? I only need 6 microfibre towels and 2 waffle weaves so seems wasteful using a full laundry load.

Thank you for any help

I like Meguiars supreme shine microfiber :)
to clean: woolite with a little vinegar

Well you need more towels than just 6 towels.... Bare minimum for 2 step correction (not including towels for washing and claying but does include for wax/seal) is about 25 towels.
I started with ordering 30 360 GSM towels from Microfibertech. You could also order Gold Plush Jr's from Autogeek. They will be suitable for absolutely anything.

Ah I'm a super noob so all my polishing is done by hand. I'd love it if I could use a random orbital but I'm too scared in case I damage the paint.

Is there any advantage of buying the Gold Jr's over the cheap mangos ?

The mangos are so thin they only have one side.

+1 - honestly the mangos are only good for junk work, like engine bays, door jambs and wheels. I wouldn't put these on my paint.

Excellent thats great to know !

So then from the Gold Plus Jr is it worthwhile spending the extra money and buying the supreme 530 or even the super plus series clothes ?

If I was starting out and looking for good value in towels, here's where I'd begin:Super Soft Deluxe Blue Microfiber Towels, microfiber detailing towels, buffing towels, micro fiber towel, detail cloth Available in either blue or green, they're good enough for any task on painted surfaces.
Meguiar's also sells a darn good towel at a very reasonable price:Meguiars Supreme Shine Microfiber Towels, microfiber buffing towels, micro fiber, detailing towels
Add some Costco Kirkland Golds or these from Autogeek for interior or door jamb use and you're set:
Color-Coded Microfiber Bulk Detailing Towels - 16 Pack

Bill

Kirkland towels are great and cheap. As stated already, only use on interior/engine bay/door jams. Also wash them separately b/c they shed lint onto the other towels.

Thanks for all the info guys but I have to buy on Autogeek due to them shipping internationally since I don't live in the US.

Which is the recommended waffle weave drying towel ?

Because I sent the link to the below write-up to the owners of the cars we buffed out last week and I knew they would read it.

I shared with them what to get to take care of their cool cars. Here's the link to the write-up...

Here's how their cars look after we polished them....

Here's what I included in my write-up....

Personal recomendation...
For all the compounding, polishing and future application and removal of the Pinnacle Crystal Mist Detail Spray you really need at least a dozen high quality microfiber towels like the Gold Plus Jr. microfiber towels.

Take my word for it these are nice towels and we go through a LOT of them for projects like these and to take care of just one car for a project like these a dozen would be the minimum amount. If you want to be stocked up so you never run out of clean towels in the middle of the project then get 2 dozen.

The other benefit is you only want to wash like towels with like towels, with a dozen or two it makes it practical to run your towels through either a small or medium size wash load all by themselves. Treat your high quality towels like any of your prized tool by taking care of them and in return they will take care of your car's finish.

Quality towels and lots of them are just as important as the tools, compounds, polishes and waxes.

The Guzzlers work great. Get the Guzzler Triple Kit and you have all the towels you need to quickly and safely dry your car.

Maybe this is in bad taste? A guy comes here and asks about towels and gets pointed elsewhere? Dunno.

You should buy your towels from AG. They host this forum and sell excellent towels. The gold jrs, and the grey or purple Cobras are great. The guzzlers are also the waffle weave I always go back to.

All the towels they sell are workhorses and don't scratch.
