Fellow auto geeks... I need a bit of advice. As my username implies, I have taken a short leave of absence from owning a sports car, and am trying to get back in it. The timing and pricing is just about right... I have narrowed my choices to the following USED vehicles. Assuming all have relatively the same mileage, are all in great shape (both exterior, interior, and mechanical), manual tranny, and are relatively the same price, WHICH WOULD YOU BUY? Please rank in order of most desired to least desired.

2003 Infiniti G, with Brembo Package
2005 - 2007 Honda S2000
2004 - 2006 BMW Z4
2003 - newer Nissan 350Z (vert or coupe)
2003 - 2004 Ford Mustang SVT Cobra (coupe or vert)
2005 - newer Ford Mustang GT (vert)
2003 - 2005 Audi TT (225 HO) (vert)
2005 - 2006 Pontiac GTO

Right now, if you asked me on the fly, it's a toss up between the G, S2k, and Z4. The best advice I was given by my friends and family is: Get the one that will make you grin whenever you walk in your garage, get in the car, start it, and drive it. Problem is, I think they ALL would... lol...

HELP! thanks all

None really. But if I had to chose from the list, it would be the S2000 or the Z4.

Z4 first.
S2k second.
Cobra third.
TT fourth.
G fifth.
GTO sixth.
Z seventh.
GT eighth.

At the price range your looking at, I would get an 01-03 M5.

G35's and Z's are both sexy. G's have the ability to look classy at the same time as being completely modded :xyxthumbs:

Sounds like you live in a warm climate....lot's of convertibles. If you don't, my advice would be to get a coupe, mechanical top, moon roof or glass top targa. I find that having a glass roof in the 'vette is much better solution in this climate vs. a convertible. Lots of sun (or, "whatever") all the time....even in cooler weather.

But, given your list:

2003 Infiniti G, with Brembo Package #6, OK, but a bit blase. Very good power plant, like the Z.
2005 - 2007 Honda S2000 #7 not enough TORQUE for me, even with the suspension it has
2004 - 2006 BMW Z4 #4, bigger, good power plant...new ones are supposed to be very good
2003 - newer Nissan 350Z (vert or coupe) #1 always liked Z's, lots of tuner stuff if you want to go fast, etc..
2003 - 2004 Ford Mustang SVT Cobra (coupe or vert) #8, by a lot....don't like the old body style and the car doesn't "fit" well
2005 - newer Ford Mustang GT (vert) #3/#2, much better than prior body style. "Fits" much better. 4.6L seems a little under powered for a V8. Good value though.
2003 - 2005 Audi TT (225 HO) (vert) #5 too too tight for me
2005 - 2006 Pontiac GTO #2/#3 BIG TORQUE, this car seems out of place with the others, brand is gone....but, lots of go fast potential and a sleeper. I like it.

That's just my opinion.......I could be wrong.

See ya.

I've only driven a few of them, but as a BMW owner I can tell you that you will be ecstatic with the Z4 motor/tranny.

TT is nice on the list also, but heavy.

Z is a very nice car, just a step down from the germans.

Honda is a fun car to drive at 9/10's, you just have to hammer the thing all the time to get any satisfaction. It gets old quickly.

Others not my cup o tea.

1-2. - 2007 Nissan 350Z (coupe)
1-2. - 2005 Audi TT (225 HO) (vert) (IN BLUE)
3-4. - 2004 Ford Mustang SVT Cobra (coupe or vert)
3-4. - 2004 - 2006 BMW Z4

5. 2005 - newer Ford Mustang GT (vert)
6. 2005 Honda S2000
7. 2003 Infiniti G, with Brembo Package
8. 2006 Pontiac GTO

I love sports cars but none of the ones on your list do much for me. I wouldn't even consider some on the list a sports car. Buy the one you like most and don't worry about what other people think. Best of luck with your new ride.

I've had 2 G35's. Both were sedans though. The Infiniti G you listed, is it a 2003 OR a 2003 1/2? The 1st G I had was a 2003 1/2. Not a 2003. Also, the only prob with those early Gs are going to be the break pads. The Brembo pads last less than 15k miles, so, be forwarned. I would love to have another G. They are awsome cars. If you get a Z, or even a G, go for anything newer than 2005 w/ a 6 speed. They have more HP.

If you get a Ford, do not get a GT. Get an SVT Cobra. Everyone has a GT. Cobras will bring in more money down the road and have more power.

Honda, ehhhhh. Nice looking vehicles BUT, slow.

BMW & Audi. I like the vehicles but I would not own one. They will cost you a bit of money down the road in repairs.

Pontiac. They will hold high re-sale value if you keep them in great condition since Pontiacs will not longer be available. Oh yeah, gas guzzler. LOL

My $.02. Go with a G35. Not the Nissan Z. Plenty of performance parts available. 1st thing to get for it is an MRev. That added 15HP, on the dyno, to my G35 Sedan. It adds power from the get go. :props:

Here are pics of the '05 G35 I had. Miss that darn sedan too.

Out of your list I would pick the Infinity. Not listed I would go with the 06 Cadillac CTS-V (not sure why I would recommend that...?). 06 has the LS2 vs. the LS6 (some people prefer one over the other, but they're very comparable in terms of power). 06 also has the upgraded rear diff, and audio buttons on the steering wheel. 06 and 07 are revised versions of the 04 and 05, but all are considered 1st generation.

It's a fun car that you don't see many of (at least I don't see many) on the roads, it takes well to mods, and is a blast to drive.

OK OK, I may be a little biased toward the V....

Depends what you are into...

In a straight line, the terminator is going to dust all of the cars listed. I personally do not like Hondas. I like power down low too. I dont like reving the car so high to get any inkling of power out of the engine. Adding FI to a non FI motor just... will always cause problems.

No replacement for displacement. Especially when there is boosted displacement :D

Pontiac. They will hold high re-sale value if you keep them in great condition since Pontiacs will not longer be available. Oh yeah, gas guzzler. LOL

GTO's prices keep dropping, regardless of the fact that they don't make them anymore.;)

S2000. If you want to drive hard on a daily basis, it will take the beating. If you have not driven one, and I'm guessing most who commented on it have not, give it a chance. A low 14 second quarter mile is right on par with mustang gt's, and the s2 will still run tomorrow. And that's not it's intended purpose. If you are not a good driver, it may not be the best choice.

5. 2003 - 2005 Audi TT (225 HO) (vert)
6. 2003 - 2004 Ford Mustang SVT Cobra (coupe or vert)
7. 2005 - 2006 Pontiac GTO

I am partial towards verts. If you are looking towards a car that is fun and might have potential collector status, look at the Pontiac Solstice Coupe. Fun car for the twisties and might be highly collectible as there were only a few hundred made before GM axed Pontiac.

I know of two vehicles for sale and they are not cheap one either. Also, down here, Lambo Doors are done WAY TOO OFTEN. The valley is a BIG copy cat place. Once something new comes out, every body does it.

2005 Nissan 350Z - well over 400HP - Supercharged

The Nissan Dealership owner owns it. They want me to detail it but, I'm sitting here waiting for them to give me the thumbs up. Also, the banner stuff has been removed from the vehicle. The Z just sits outside 24/7.

Would have been better off with a twin turbo setup :props:

Those graphics that were on it were terrible. Good to see them being ripped off lol.

Go with a M3.I know its not on your list, but it should be. BMW makes the best driving machine. I have a 330xi AWD and I love it. Before that I had a 440hp built WRX bugeye which I loved, but looking back I would have bought a 01-04 M3. For what its worth...
