Recommendation for Pearl Coat?

Hello all, I have been searching over old threads that contain "pearl" in the title. The only threads I could find contained black, blue, and white pearl coats. Can anyone give me a suggestion on what to lay down on Dodge's Orange Blast Pearl paint? I am looking for something that will make a deep wet look, and also help with the color shift that the paint does in sunlight. My camera doesnt pick it up real well, but the paint has a subtle light sparkle in it. Another question I have.....does anyone have experience with this color? Is this paint considered a hard or soft paint?

This one picks up the color change a little bit. The corner of the bumper appears to be a brighter color.

thanks for the reply. I already have the Pinnacle twins, I will have to try out the M105/205 combo to see if it gets those swirls out easier than the pinnacle. As for the deepness of his paint, I think mine might already appear to be a little deeper. its hard to tell when looking at pictures though. I will find a shade pic to compare.
 
After looking again, the shots of his hood look really deap from what I have seen of this color. this is what I am after.. Will Pinnacle SS-II acheive results like this?

I would imagine so. According to SS II's page, it has a "warm, wet shine." It is widely recommended for metallics. I should think it would look great on your orange pearl paint. :xyxthumbs:

I have Signature Series II as well, but haven't gotten the opportunity to use it yet.
 
Hey, are you on Hi N Mity SRT Forums? I'm under the same name over there. Anyway, try the Dodo Juice Orange Crush sample pot before buying the full size container. Mine is e-blue and will receive a coat of Pinnacle SSII this weekend, I'll let you know how the metallic takes to it. Are you looking for long term protection or a beauty wax? DP Max Wax is supposed to be a hidden gem for metallics but is similar to SSII. The key to what look you're after is all in the prep work. Good luck!

*Edit - I just found your thread over there, looks good. Are you not happy with the results? Looking for something better?

First thing is clay. Every pearl coat I have done, looked so different after claying. As in the paint had a much better looking pearl color to it.

I think pinnacle's liquid souveran would give you the warm glow.

Thanks for the recommendation:props: I have never looked into Do Do Juice waxes, the name always turned me off.

Ya, thats me over on the other forums. My SSII is suppose to show up today I think, but the sun wont be around until Saturday to try it out. I will probably just do an IPA wipe down on the hood and the rear quarters, then do one 1 quarter panel with AutoGlym and one with the SSII, and then do a 50/50 on the hood with the same waxes.

As for the results, I am happy with what I have now. But, once you start playing with the PC and reading this site for hours a day, one seams to get a little crazy and strives for even better results.:buffing:

I try to clay my vehicles twice a year. I have been claying my cars for ~15 years, ever since Automagic stopped by a carwash I was working at in highschool, and showed me their clay kit. Liquid Sov was going to be my next try before I decided to make this thread

I went over my finish with pinnacle swirl remover and LC ccs orange pad, and pinnacles Finishing Polish with a LC ccs white pad. After that, I laid down a coat of AutoGlym HD. But, I recieved my Pinnacle Signature Series II today, and I am debating stripping the AG off and trying the SSII.

Should I leave the HD wax on and wax over it with the SSII?
Or should I strip the HD off and lay down the SSII?
Should I combo the two up for a more durable finish?

I just have no idea on how I should be layering. Out of the list below, is there a good combo to go with, and in what order should I use them in?

I'm expecting the shipment by next week. so i haven't really started yet. The finish you saw was at one of the shows, i only applied a glaze to hide the defects.

I will make sure to update that thread once i have tried the machine.

Try wiping down half your hood with IPA or mineral spirits and then apply Pinnacle SSII. Let that bond for 12 hours or so if you can and see if you like the AutoGlym HD side or the Pinnacle side. If you can't tell by looking at it, spray or pour water over the hood and see how they react to water.
