Another question. The Honda dealership said they contract out to have the remote starter installed. That surprised me. Anyway the price is double of other places. I'm sure the dealership is marking it up.

What are your thoughts. I've always been apprehensive about these. But it sure would be nice in the winter

Bob, I just read that theres technology so you can start the car using your smart phone. That's pretty cool. Honda wants $700. I'll ask if they have that technology. I'm sure I can get it cheaper. I'm just worried that if there's an issue., I know honda will have to deal with it. I worry about everything.

Then:
The Viper remote-start-system is probably what you want:

I asked them. They are installing my katzkin leather. Next week. I'm thinking of having them do the starter too but I just keep leaning towards the honda product just to have piece of mind

Terry poe wants $275 that's a lot cheaper than Honda
Good...He's on the list:
You don't have to go through Honda!!

Thanks Bill...
Frank,
I've worked at various GM dealers in the South Hills over the years and have sent the majority of my work to Terry Poe Automotive in Pittsburgh, PA | 2419 Mcneilly Rd, Pittsburgh, PA for a zillion years. Reliable, professional and uses good stuff.

I had the Viper system for years on my last car, boy is it awesome. Everyone says "Boy that must be nice when it's below zero". Forget that, I used it every day of the year! Thanks to the long range remote, I'd start it before I left wherever it was I was leaving, and I always got in a nice cool/warm car. It's probably really good for the engine to start and idle for a minute or two every single time I drove the car.

Current car has a manual transmission and while the technology is there for MTX auto-start, I don't like the idea of leaving it in neutral, so I'm sadly without it. But I highly recommend viper and a reputable installer. The dealer is going to mark it up heavily. The same guy who they 'contract it out' to probably has a shop somewhere where he does it for clients for half as much.

And you can get the Smart start module installed then start your car from ANYWHERE in the US. As long as my car and phone both have cell service I can start mine. Where I work we park so far away no one else with regular starts can reach their car...not me mines toasty in winter and cooled off in summer...everyone HATES me!!! Lol. That module is gonna run most people $350 and the service contract on top. I used to install at a local shop so I got the system for cost and installed myself.

Sent from my XT1030 using AG Online

The dealership I bought my Dodge & Ford from sends out the work,my salesman told me who they use so I eliminated the middle man. I got 2 remote starts & heated leather seats, love the place! Would never go through the dealer.

Don't waste your money at the dealer. They are using the exact same technology as the aftermarket installer and doubling the price. I've installed remote starters on every car I've owned for the last 10 years and never used the dealer.
