Due to my stupidity i unlatched the trailer before getting the motorcycle down and while rolling down the bike, obviously the trailer titled. The trailer end scratched the tire cover of my Rav4 badly.

The cover is platic material but softer than the plastic bumper.

I had 3M rubbing compound and used a rotary buffer. It cleared out the white marks but not the scratches. I dont want 100% improvement, but the sight of it is just pi$$ing me

am reading on it, and need some suggestion. Will wet sanding with 1000 girt or a higher girt sand paper help buff out the deeper scratches on plastic?

As i said, i dont want to do filling, painting, clear coat .. just ground down the deep scratches a bit and remove the wet sanding marks.

please advise.

:: Not sure if i need to post this in the Wet Sanding Forum.

Photos would help a lot. Does the scratch go through the clear coat and even the color layer? If yes all you can do (short of a repaint of the cover) is apply touch up paint to hide the underlying primer or plastic.

Ok - i will take pictures rightaway. the scratch doesnt go through the clear coat. Its kind of another plastic clear shield on the cover. i do have touchup paint available.

will update pics soon

Here is the picture : [kind of unclear, but thats the best i could take]

The cover seems to have a thing plastic clear cover on the paint plastic. So, this scratch is on the plastic clear cover and do not touch the paint.

Hm ok. If it's some type of clear bra wet sanding is not a good idea, i've read here before that it may not refinish well.

That's the extent of my knowledge, i hope some more experienced members here can help you! That scratch is definitely not pretty...
