Remove wax over ceramic??

I Recently had my car ceramic coated and they told me to put wax over it, i did but I’ve been reading that its not necessarily good so I was wondering if I could remove the wax without hurting the ceramic coating underneath? What are the opinions here about waxing over ceramic coating? Thanks

I think this is the right advice, just let the weather naturally wear off the wax over a couple months' time. Otherwise you risk doing some harm to your coating by trying to remove the wax.

Let it wear off or you could try something like Mckees Coating Prep Wash.

However, I don’t know what coating or wax you are working with so this is just a wild guess. Worst case you have a weak coating that degrades.

For reference, which coating and what wax are you working with? How long was the coating on the paint before you waxed over it? A lot of coatings can handle things like lighter spray waxes and not be too negatively impacted, but applying something like a heavier paste wax is not something that I would recommend. It may not destroy the total protective layer of the coating, but that top surface of the coating that gives you that great hydrophobic performance may be permanently affected by just the physical act of waxing on top, depending on the kind of wax. If it's not damaged during the application process, it could take some time for the coating to shed the wax off naturally, but I agree with the others that trying to target just the wax specifically for removal could harm the coating in the process. We could run some tests, just need to know what you're working with.

Yeah, this is important to know.

If you just put a Wal-Mart liquid wax on it, it'll most likely be gone in a few weeks.

If you put something like Collinite 476 over it, well you might be in for a long ride.....

NuFinish is an abrasive cleaner wax I believe. Did you apply by hand? This may have already compromised the coating, and I think it has good chemical resistance, so the only choice may be to let it wear out and see how the coating performs months from now.

I’m not trying to be negative in any way, but putting NuFinish on Kenzo is like putting a cheap fabric seat cover on premium leather seats. I’m baffled why the installer would recommend any old wax be put on top.
With that being said, you can do whatever makes you happy and given this probably doesn’t, the NuFinish will wear off and this is just car care. Live and learn, and most importantly enjoy the experiences.

Bon cleaner waxes over a coating won’t hurt the coating but won’t really help it.

Nu finish is a sealant 100% synthetic no wax in their. If it’s damaged your coating it happened when applied and will not further damage it. Trying to remove may further damage.

Agree with Acura on two things. You basically put ketchup on your filet mignon And if you do not want to ride it out try mckee’s coating prep soap.

I might also recommend Fenylab pure rinseless.

Lastly what kind of detailer coats your car but does not recommend how or what to use to take care of it.

Thanks for the responses, i will wait it out. I had seen some long term tests with waxes and ceramics and new finish lasted a pretty good time so that’s why I used it, normally I use ReJex.
