Tricks to get wax residue off of carbon vinyl overlay? Tried all purpose cleaner, pencil eraser, magic eraser, rubbing alcohol and peanut oil so far... Looked like it was gone at first but it is starting to show again three weeks later..

What are you working on?

What type of wax is causing the issue?

Picture?

And welcome to AGO! :welcome:

I'm going to step out on a limb here and take a guess you're having this problem in Waikiki?

:D

Corvette,
accidentally went over a carbon fiber vinyl overlay on the mirror , with Optimum, Poli-seal One step...

Picture Below was taken when it happened.
I then got it off and thought it was taken care of, but 3 weeks later, it is starting to show again..

And it's going to be tough to remove it 100%

Wax be it a natural type of a synthetic type, is NOT water soluble. IF it was it would wash off your car.

You're going to need to use some type of solvent that will dissolve the protection ingredients in the Optimum Poli-Seal. I'd even suggest sending an e-mail to Dr. David Ghodoussi the owner, President and chemist at Optimum with a link to this thread and ask him for his suggestions for a solvent that will dissolve his product without at the same time harming the carbon fiber overlay.

Then in the future either slow down and be careful or cover-up surfaces like these.
