Removing clear coat from plastic fender flares

Im working on a 2001 f350 with bushwacker plastic fender flares that have at some point been clear coated but the clear is now failing, my question is there a chemical that will remove the clear without hurting the plastic?

You could use a plastic razor blade with APC for lube

Take them off and apply citristrip. Should spare the plastic.
