Right, so there are some major swirls on my car's chrome pillars from a previous owner. I've been told that there is no way of removing them, but does anyone know of a product I can use to temporarily fill them? I don't think the chrome has been clear coated. They are just chromed metal.

Are the chrome pillars metal or plastic? If metal,a dedicated metal polish will help, if plastic then Plastix or similar plastic polish will help). Some AIO can help to fill swirls (XMT360/ Klasse AIO/ AG SRP) if that is the route you want to go. `

Price the parts. Chrome, in my experience, is very tricky. If the swirles are light, you could probably take anyones suggested polishing products. If the swirls are deep, however, they may go all the way through the layer of chrome and down to the nickel. I have found that the chrome layer is very easy to buff all the way down to the nickel, and even the copper. I have polished down to the bare steel on some emblems just to get rid of pits.:poke:

I would hit it with Megs 105. As it has already been stated though, don't hold the machine in the same spot for an extended period of time or you could easily burn through

Are you using a machine or trying this by hand?

I haven't decided if I'm going to go the DA route, or by hand. I think I'll give it a go by hand since it's not a very large spot.

Some of the chrome is metal, and I think two portions are plastic, but I'm not sure on that, so I'll assume they are metal. At $60 thousand, I hope it's metal. If the wood is real wood... (and it is). I think when you get down past the chrome, it's aluminium. I remember another Jag owner saying they had the chrome removed and polished the aluminium. I won't do that, too much work.
