GOO GONE worked great getting gum out of my MIL's carpeting in her Edge (and is smells like oranges too).

It needs to be that specific Goo Gone. They have different products, and I think the original Goo Gone wouldn't be good to put on cloth. I have the Automotive Goo Gone that is citrus based which is probably the one you are talking about, and is the one to use. I think it's just pretty important to know the difference because the original is a heavy duty solvent.

Old advice is to get it cold with an ice cube and pick away as much as possible first.

Yep, I have a specific gum and candle wax remover that freezes it super cold and then you can pick it out, works way better than trying to dissolve it with solvents.

TOTALLY agree!

Hit up your local janitorial supply store for "gum remover."

Boy this takes me back a long time. I used to be in the car rental business, and we had lots of gum on cloth seats and carpets.
We used gasoline to turn it almost liquid and not sticky at all. Wipe with towel and done.
Today I would recommend testing on inconspicuous spot for colour fastness first.
The gasoline smell will disappear on its own over time, or you can use APC for fast fix.
Funny thing is gasoline is a very good solvent and will dissolve a bunch of stuff. Trick is test first to see if will damage.
