Anyone have any sure fire techniques for removing chewing gum residue from a painted plastic bumper?

Somewhere along the line I picked up some chewing gum with the left rear wheel of my Porsche, leaving a trail of gum on the bumper. That trail picked up brake dust from the rear brakes and has now hardened. I have tried clay and I have tried the pressure wash from a DIY car wash, neither of which did anything.

Any and all suggestions are greatly appreciated!

I have really come to hate chewing gum...

A paint safe adhesive remover should do the trick, use a blade or floss to lift it.

If its painted with clear coat you can try kerosene, it should do the job.

W-D 40 works great on gum, tar, sticker and graphics adhesives on paint...

Thanks for the suggestions! Hopefully one of them will do the trick.

Let us know what does work for you, for the future reference of some other guy who "has really come to hate bubble gum". :dblthumb2:
