Removing Plasti Dip From Rims

This is new to me but I had a customer call in today and ask me to remove the plasti dip from her rims, I told her I would call her back tomorrow morning to give her a time an date for the appointment. I'm guessing some goo gone and a green scotch brite pad an some elbow grease will remove the plasti dip from the rims, also I'm guessing I'll have to remove the tires from the car to do the job as well. My main question bidding the job since I have never done the plasti dip Removal I don't want to under bid a job that could take longer then expected.

If the plasti dip was put on thick enough it should peel off in one big piece. It scrapes off fairly easily, I just used my finger. I would think goo gone of even an APC would make it easier.
 
Yes, if applied properly it will peel off in large sections/pieces, or if lucky enough, like Focus said, one big piece!

I would not use the scotch brite pad to minimize marring/scratching. You should not need it anyway.

You can also pressure wash it off. The goo gone will literally melt if right off. WD40 can also work.

I would try to remove it without any chemicals at first to see how it goes.

Wd40 to the rescue...I've used it plenty of times when the customer didn't spray the dip correctly. Just have a few new cans on hand!

I had my rims plasti dipped on my Mazda a few years ago. As mentioned I was able to remove by simply peeling. My pressure washer also worked wonders for tighter areas where it didn't peel all the way off.

If less than 6 coats will be a problem peeling as too thin.
I did not get good results with Goo Gone on 4 coats.
Xylene will desolve it on contact.
However it also is hard on paint so use with caution and don't let sit on paint to long.
 
Done this a few times. Some degreaser and a pressure washer with a needle attachment will take it off in a hurry.
 
I have used bug & tar spray in the past to de-PD my rims, and was very pleased with the results and minimal amount of effort required.

Both times I did it at the car wash so I could make use of the high-powered water gun, but other than that, no special tools were needed.

As for the products, one time I used some Stoner Tarminator and was very pleased. The other time I had some Turtle Wax stuff from local big box store, and I was less pleased with it. It took way more of the TW to get the same results.
