The doors are stainless steel and seems that the guests decided to scratch their names on the doors. Also the doors have other long scratches. Any of you have removed scratches from stainless steel if so how? I was thinking about steel wool or mothers powerball with Power Metal but have no clue what to use. Any tips or suggestions would be helpful! :D

bigal, I think the only way to remove that would be sanding.
Then trying to match it with the rest of the door. Sounds like a big PITA to me. You have the names, check with the desk and do some matching and send the bill out.:D

bump. i guess we will clean it and leave it like that. Great idea about charging them ,but it will be hard to prove if they did it.

You have to be careful with stainless. There is stuff carried at appliance stores like sratch-b-gone and others that work well, but moreso for home stainless appliances. I would talk to an appliance store or if you can find a company in elevator/supply field they may be able to help better as there are certain ways you can use certain sandpaper pads etc to buff stainless. Key marks will be tough though.

I have all stainless appliances in the house, constantly cleaning them, drives me nutz when people leave smudges etc on fridge and everything. But there are different stainless finishes, elevator stainless is different from home appliance with a different grain finish generally. Thats why you have to be careful.

Thanks Surfer! I will call the elevator company that services our elevator and maybe they have someone who can take the scracthes off.

stainless is very hard and when scratched usually has to be sanded and polished with black rouge and a tight sewn buff

Thanks for the info highline ,but it looks like i will get a professional in to do the job.

Well some feel like surface scratches and some are slightly deeper.
