OK I have heard that Ozone machines work what are your thoughts as an expert? If yes do you recommend one brand and distributor? If yes why do you not sell one in the store? If no what do you recommend?

Thanks

yes ozone machines do work, reason why there probly not carried on autogeek is because if your not carefull you can cause harm to your body or the car you're working on. most ozone generators are the same basic thing its really simple technology which is called "corona discharge" basically its a plate of glass with metal mesh on both sides of the glass but not touching, then you hook mesh up to a 7500-15000V transformer and that creates the corona discharge which creates the ozone, you can make them but of course will it have a warranty? i doubt it!.the other technology to make ozone is using a UV-C lamp(the kind that will sterilize stuff and give you skin cancer if you put your hand in the light). you can find the corona discharge ozone gens for about 100-150$. just don't get the fish tank/kitchen ones that hang on a wall outlet as they put out a very low concentration of ozone which will work for a fishtank or water but not a car. the typical ozone output for a car your looking for is about 400mg/hr -1100mg/hr at those concentrations it should only take 1/2 hour to remove the smell and another 1-2 hours to air the car out to not cause harm to yourself or the client.

SoPure is a very strong and very capable product. I have recommeded it to some folks on here with some awful odors to get rid of and it worked very well for them. Try it, you will not be disappointed.

A friend of mine just recently bought a very clean smoker owned used car. It's a full size Lincoln and the guy that owned it must have smoked four packs a day in it. I am amazed that there are no ciggy burns anywhere.

I shampooed the carpet and seats. Used an 1Z Einszett Klima-Cleaner Air Conditioner Treatment in the AC ducts. And cleaned all the interior surfaces with APC and treated wit 303
Then I put my ozone generator inside the car, turned the ignition on to circulate air inside the car, and left the car closed up for one 90 minute cycle with ozone. And left the car closed up (ozone off) for another four hours.
After all that all the smoke smell was gone. And it's stayed gone for the last two months, even though the car is parked outside in the San Fernando Valley in 100+ temps.

Every time I smoke in my car on a longer trip, especially rainy days when you cant open the window much, it stinks of smoke. All I do is spray Ozium, one good shot and then close the door overnight, the smell is gone the next day. Your's may be worse but it's just a thought. Have you ever tried it?

I am a used car dealer and need a permanent solution. Just ordered a Ozone machine from ebay that has lots of positive feedback. I know ozone will work there just seems to be so many scams out there with these machines. Ozone then a full detail should solve the problem. I will update after we get the machine,

Trust me, as a non-smoker your car stinks all the time and not just when you can't open the windows.

If you smoke, or have pets, your nose is never as sensitive as someone who doesn't smoke or own pets. Rarely will a smoker's nose be as sensitive, if ever, as a non-smokers. My grandparents smoked like freight trains, and I hated it. When they both quit, it wasn't until years later they realized how bad they smell.

Now the smell of a good pipe, I can handle that...even love it, but I'd never smoke one.

Yes, I use it...and I don't smoke. However, I've always been able to still smell smoke after using it in someone's car, always.

Ozium is a great product, as is Odo-Ban, but neither will totally kill smoke in a smokers car. At least not that I've witnessed unless you have the vehicle for a long period of time and air it out. Do these products put a big dent in it? I'd say they do, but it still isn't gone.

Ozone is something I'm just learning about. I'm skeptical of how safe it is for use, but that's a natural feeling not knowing much about it.
