Removing sticker residue from gel coat?

Hi,

Just purchased a new boat last week and either the dealer or the factory put a paper sticker with a lot number on the boat. Then they covered the paper sticker with a 2" wide piece of clear shipping tape. What's the best product or method to get the dang residue off without harming the gelcoat? I've tried Tuff Stuff, McGuiers, even Invisible Glass with a ton of elbow grease but nothing is taking it off.

At this point I'm thinking Goo Gone, but not sure what that will do to the gel coat.

WD-40 worked like a champ. Followed up with a dawn wash and clean water rinse.
 
I do a few jet skis and always use a heat gun and then goof off. Works well. I strip almost all the stickers off if the owner is ok with that, all the dumb warning labels, only leave the manufacturers name and the emissions stickers so they don't get hassled in inland waterways in Cali.
 
It's our first boat, but the 'legal' warning stickers are coming off at the end of the season. :xyxthumbs: I'll leave the one's the DNR or Coast Guard people want to see. Thanks for the goof off suggestion, didn't have any handy and WD-40 worked (courtesy of a boating forum).
