Now its done, done, done....
This is how it started:
Started outside when it was "warm"
Guess witch panel that has been done here?
If some of you Norwegians on AGol reads this post, buy a used Post Office car!!!.......dont EVEN botter calling me....im NOT taking one of those again, in a perfect world it should have been repainted imo, got mainly all of the swirls out, but all the scratches that showed up after i got the oxidation removed, you couldnt move your nail 5" on the paint before it got stuck in a scratch, i didnt have a wool pad, i had some wetsanding paper, but didnt feel like it (not done that too often anyway) and its a winter beater....
This Picture is before
-Menzerna S34A + Rotary and Burg Megs pad
-Menzerna PO106FF + Rotary and Yellow megs pad
Then doing the above combo, and wiped it down with Menzerna top inspection it looks like this:
(Probably one of the few places it wasnt a deep scratch showing...lol)
So as said above, it was a pretty big job gettin this car back to life, i worked long time with the Menzerna S34A and burg Megs pad and rotary, that combo workes well, cuts away swirls and scratches pretty fast, and it leaves the paint hazy after, so it will need a lighter comp and softer pad to get the paint red and glossy again...The S34A got kinda hard to work with on the last panels, and i guess that was either cos i got colder or the pad was getting pretty full of compond and old paint, i did clean the pad after each panel with a nail brush, but on the last panel i had to clean the pad more often, and im happy that that didnt happen when i was half done on the car, and im glad i had the Menzerna top inspection to apply befor i wiped it off, feelt that the rotary and pad wanted to "run away" sometimes, but i guess thats either the compound getting dry or i need a new rotary (pleas say it the rotary, then ill have an exuse to buy a metabo lol)
In progress:
Front door before
Done:
I followed up the Menzerna S34A with the Menzerna PO106FF and yellow megs pad on rotary, after that the paint was LSP ready, it didnt get much better with the "tools" i had in hand this day..The 106FF is one of the easyest light cutting polishes ive ever usen, it gives a great shin FAST, and are easy as 1-2-3 to wipe off again, works just as well with the Roatry as it does with the PC on 5 or 6, but i takes a little longer before it flashes with the PC and are finished breaking down, with the rotary it didnt take me many passes before i saw the paint got glossy, still it was lots of oil left so the it didnt run dry, then i just wiped it down with Menzerna top inspectin an a MF to inspect..
After the Menzerna team:
But because this car is going to be outside 24/7 during winter i wanted to give it a good protective combo, so as im a DG addict it was the DG 501 DG 105 and the DG 111 that found its way to the cars paint..
-Started with the DG 501, white pad and PC speed 3/4 and went over the whole car, i let it dry and then buffed of with a MF (easy on easy off), This one cleans up realy nice, gives a great gloss/wetness and as a "bonus" it protects great too..
-After 2 h i went back and applyed the DG 105 with the Polishing pal, and buffed that off the day after so it could cure 24h (easy on easy off) Well most of you know this one by now, but as a "one stepper AIO" its also great, no problem leaving the paint in this condition without putting anything else over it, but i like the look that the DG 111 gives better so..
-I applyed the DG 111 by hand as a sealant, let i haze then buffed off again (easy on easy off) As said, i like the look and the feel of this sealant, and "menatly" i "feel" it gives a even better protection to the 501/105 under it..
All the DGs i used are pretty easy to apply and remove, i just make the coats thin as i can, and let them dry properly and....swish swosh its off again..
Final result:
Plastic trim on one side is scratched up, but on the other side its pretty sweet after the DG 531:
On the tires its Wolfgang black diamond tire gel and all the plastic on the car got the DG 531 Marine and RV protectant and that was a WOW product imo, it made the plastic trim on the car look like factory new, just the right gloss and darkness to it..Applyed that with a pad and wiped it afters with a old MF and WOW (where the plastic was without scratches that is...)
Anyway, i got the car better than it was but its not a show winner, but that was never my intention from the beginning..
It was a big job, my arms hurts but it was FUN doing it and i learned a lot, got impressed and disapointed and in the end it probably got a rais in value for about $2000usd..
Thank you for viewing and reading and have a great day..
