So I picked up the rental car after dropping mine off at the collision center, and sure enough I got it home and found myself CLEANING IT OUT! It wasn't bad, but not clean enough for my taste. Is it me, or would any of you have done the same thing??

lol I did the same thing with a rental car I had when I had to get my bumper repainted. I had the car for aout 3 weeks and wash the outside about 3 times and the inside once lol.

Don't stop with the interior, take advantage of that exterior canvas too!

If it were me, I would be putting untried compound/pad combinations to the test and seeing what kind of finishes I can generate.

the last rental car i had was worthy of a molotov cocktail! only had to deal with the car for 1 day.

i actually think the rental group decided the best way to cover up a funk odor was to pour a few bottles of cheap perfume on the seats and carpet.

I do the same thing. My wife thinks I'm totally nuts!. I had a 2010 Malibu last summer for a week and ended up debugging and polishing the chrome wheels because...how could I be seen in something so dirty? I also couldn't stand all the old french fries on the floor. It's a disease man.........a wicked disease. The car looked 10 times better than when I picked it up, so they were happy. Thanks Enterprise.:xyxthumbs:

I did this to a G35X loaner I had.... car was was pretty dirty with water spots all over... started cleaning it up nice, vacuumed out, etc. lol

What a great idea, something to practice on.... I'll just tell the wife its a friends Moms car

I learned to wetsand on a rental car a few years ago. It was a black mitsubishi galant and came back looking good as new.

Like your wetsanding and rotary buffer skills...

:D

Actually I pretty much did that last week when I had a loaner. I only practiced / polished out the hood, so someone is going to have a major WTF moment trying to figure out why the hood looks so good compared to the rest of the car.

You all got me thinking now about renting a car so that I can practice on something different. Is this disease progressive?

Companys that rent out cars seldom keep them in top notch shape. Where I work we rent Toyotas. Somethimes there cleaned up , somethimes there not. A lot of times they just get a wet wash, which means they dont get dried, so they have water spots on them. The 3 people that handle rental cars have other work to do so they dont have much time.

In January I had the use of our company errand runner while my vehicle was in the scratch n dent shop. The owners of the company let me use it for the cost of gas only. I repaid them by washing, clay bar, M105/M205 and waxing (NXT 2.0) the exterior. The windows all got Rain-X while the tires and plastics got Hyper Dressing. Interior was scrubbed clean, vacuumed and treated with Meg's QID.

Today while leaving the parking lot I saw a bird bomb on it.
:detailer:
I stopped, got my emergency bag out of my trunk and took care of it. If it's not raining Saturday AM I'll give her an ONR bath followed by Meg's Ultimate Quik Wax.

Yes, it is an addiction.

If we could only charge the rental company for our services..... Hmmmm
