Hey guys,
I have been searching for a garage to do work on customers cars for several months.
Today I saw one that might work. It's in bad shape but the new owner is gonna fix it over the next month.
The one I plan to rent is double space with 2 large garage door. There was a very big 4X4 truck parked Inside so I know there will be plenty or room.
Right now it look old and dirty so I will have to do a lot of renovation. I will also need to install a lot of lights. The exterior also need a little love (grafities on the 2 doors mostly).
So I have several questions for those of you who are either mobile with a fixed location for work when client's can't have work done at their place... or that are fixed location in a non-commercial garage...
So the first thing: What do I have to know before renting. Are there generally issues doing detailling in a residencial garage? You know zoning and that sort of things.
The access to the garage is through a backstreet. Do you think that would cause a problem for customers?
I do not plan to do most of my work there, I am mobile but I am getting tired of having to turn down clients because they have no place for me to do the work. Most people in Montréal park in the Streets... so it has been a major issue so far.
The owner has to install and electric pannel. Any idea what wattage (or is it calculated in AMPS?) is needed to what we do? I figure it should not be that much. Only piece of gear I expect to drain a lot of power is the air compressors at 15 amps each. But still... I am not sure what the minimum should be for the electric pannel.
What about insurrance, anything special I should know?
Ok well, if you have been through searching for a garage and leasing one, you know what it involves, any advice would be greatly appeciated.
