Respect

On Friday, August 14th, 2009 I did my first detail job since moving to Florida from California and after just washing the car I have a new found respect for all you Florida Detailers.

It was hot and very humid and after just washing and drying the car my shirt was so wet with sweat that it was like dipping it in water and then putting it back on. Anyone doing mobile detailing or even mobile car washing in Florida in August is as tough as Stainless Steel Nails!

Keep in mind this was done early in the morning before it even got hot outside!

Luckily after washing and drying the car I then pulled it into the AG Garage which is air-conditioned and was able to finish the detailing work in a much more comfortable environment.

So my hat's off to all you Florida Detailers as you have my respect.

haha, come up to NC were the humidity will kill you when you working all day outside haha. Seriously need a ACed garage or get a portable one to turn on the night before to cool down for polishing. Sucks when you are doing a nice final wipe down after waxing and you get drips of sweat :(

Now that Mike has adjusted to our temperature, we will have to show him life with Hurricanes now! :xyxthumbs:
Got a few potential storms brewing out there... so we will have to educate him on hurricane life, bottled water, how ice turns to gold, the joys of living with no electricity... ahh the fun in Fla!

:dblthumb2: Then afterward we can have a good review how to work on products at hot and very humid area's. That will be a big and really helpful review for me. Do have fun:dblthumb2:

During the summer I always wash my cars frist thing in the morning with the sun is just comming up.

As to hurricanes we can do without them.

I hear that. I stuck around for one of those Hurricanes once while I was on vacation down there. Never again. 7 or 8 hours of 100 mph wind is not for me. The Floridians said " That is weak one " Ha! Not for me.

Hi Mike,
followed you over here from MOL, at least you dont have to wear the black shirt in the heat anymore!

Too Funny! Wearing those black dress shirts outside can be a bit much so we do tend to wear T-shirts especially in this Fla weather, but Mike did have to trade in the black Meguiars shirts for a Black Autogeek shirt. Only thing is they are optional!:p
Unless of course you are at SEMA with Max.

yeah it does suck. but in all fairness, we do get three spectacular seasons out of the year.

:iagree:
I've developed a pretty good system: as I get new MF towels, the old ones become sweat rags. The big WW is great to wear kind of like an apron to keep the sides dry as you lean over the hood.

We only get two seasons here in Wisconsin, winter and road construction.

Seriously, I would trade in the wild temperature changes in Maryland for Florida in a second. In fact, my brother came back from Florida the other week, and it was more humid/hot in MD than Florida. If it wasn't for the job security here, I would leave in a heartbeat.

Detailing is often a great way to pass time in the aftermath of a storm. Not much to do, and other than power tools often you can dedicated several hours to those small items you want to do but never get around too.

Must be nice. lol

Here in Deep South Texas, (basically Mexico) we only have SUMMER. Oh, we also have HUMIDITY and HEAT. I have about a dozen head bands at all time when detailing vehicles. Also, we have to fight MOSQUITOS. ugh.... Rain? What's that? LOL Good thing all of my work is under a canopy or wearhouse. Also, use a fan or two too keep the air blowing.
