Restoring black trim

Why do you have a coffee link in your signature? If you answer that I'll answer your trim question.

Thanks for pointing that out I use the same app for a coffee forum and when I was updating the signature I updated the wrong one.

Coffee is my passion and that is my family business.

So the latest flavor here at AG for trim like this is:

Solution Finish Black Plastic & Vinyl Restorer, trim restorer, black plastic restorer

Also, some good words have been spoken lately about this product:

Sonus Tire & Bumper Dressing Gel, rubber protectant, protect tires

This one works good for a few weeks:

Meguiars Ultimate Black, trim restorer, trim protectant, plastic restorer

Or was it this one? They keep changing the names on this stuff:

Meguiars Ultimate Protectant, rubber and vinyl protectant, rubber dressing

Some of us have also used a product called C4 that isn't sold here, which works well, it has been suggested to use an acid prewash (like this Finish Kare SIRR Steel, Iron Rust Remover, auto paint iron remover, ferrous metal remover, paint cleaner, paint decontamination system ) for better durability. Also, some have had success with Opti-Coat 2.0 restoring trim (while others have said it won't restore).

I'll be doing a full review on that solution finish restore this weekend. Stay tuned, it looks promising.

I guess I forgot to mention these two which are similar and will do some restoration, depending (all these surfaces respond differently, whether it be different textures, plastics, UV exposure, etc.):

Wolfgang Exterior Trim Sealant, rubber trim sealant, rubber protectant, exterior trim products, metal sealer
Ultima Tire & Trim Guard Plus, tire & trim protectant, tire dressing, rubber protectant
Thank you my friend I bought the UTTGP it seems the most talk about...

remember most have stated UTTG dont work well at darkening the trim, works great to protect but its darkening abilities are not the best from what ive seen and the reviews ive read. me personally i use meguiars ultimate protectant/ultimate black does darken, and protect. if applied correct ive had it last 4 weeks or more with little rain, only spots that did lighten up is where water drips after a couple week. still looking for a perfect trim dressing that will work on grey and black trim, im thinking solution finish as from coreys review really has me sold on this stuff and he used it on grey trim(his reviews are the first i read as hes awesome with them so awesome it makes me not do many reviews because i cant compete with his quality of reviews!)

Aside from darkening/protecting the trim, how are you guys buffing out any water spots and whatnot from your black trim?

The trim on my Civic is in OK condition, a little "brown" and some light water marks, but I'm confident with the right process I can get it to like new condition very easily!

Any ideas? Links?

[Sorry for the thread hi-jack, but I figured OP could use the information as well.]

Will any of these work on non plastic roof rails? Mine are faded and I think they are painted metal.
