So I had the great luck of accidentally leaving my rear driver side window of my 4-month old MDX just a smidge down when a huge thunderstorm rolled by a couple of days ago. The seat was pretty soaked in some spots and even especially the carpeting. I dried both out with towels and by letting air into car.

Unfortunately now the leather feels dried out and papery in one spot and somewhat wrinkled in another spot. I have a feeling this cannot be fully restored by any product but what recommendation do you guys have on how to proceed and what type of products to use to at least hopefully help it along a bit? Thanks in advance.

I have no experience with leather seats so hopefully someone here can help you.

If there is not a car care product for such a problem then try to find a tack shop or country store that caters to the horse riding community.

When I was young my grandfather used to get some kind of product in a tin that he would put on the items to keep them soft and pliable. He would also use this on sheep skins to soften them up if the were getting dried out. I do not know what is was called but I am sure there is something like that out there.

Good Luck

Leather used in automotive settings are considered coated or finished leather. They use a polyureathane type coating to help with fading and believe it or not water proofing. Unfortunately this makes leather less pliable and soft.

I suspect there might have been less damage done than originally thought as long as you dried leather/carpet/interior as soon as possible. But if you truly still feel leather is now harder then try the Leatherique product. Most of us still feel/see a difference after using this product even with coated leathers.
