Hello,
This was among the new 303 products I was given to try out.
303 Automotive Trim Restorer Protectant
It comes packaged in a box, with a small 4.0 OZ bottle of product and a round foam applicator.
As mentioned in a previous review, this product is very thin. The top 303 used is not appropriate for the consistency of the product. Even knowing this, I still spilled some all over my applicator. They either need to find a new top, or thicken the product. Personally I think the latter would be better. It could benefit from being thicker.
My test car was a somewhat neglected BMW Z4 with a very faded cowl. Prior to using the product, I cleaned the cowl with an APC.
Here it is after I cleaned it:
After an initial application:

Here are my thoughts on the product. First off, it is very very thin. It has a white milky color to it. I would say this means it has a little bit of a learning curve. I think I used to much product, and therefore had a hard time getting a smooth even coating. Unfortunately that car had no other trim for me to try to hone in the process.
As you can see by the photo, it did darken the plastic and restore the original look. Once dry, it was completely dry to the touch.
I can assume that the claims of lasting a year might be possible. It seemed to create sort of a coating on top of the plastic. While some trim products simply sit on top, some just get absorbed, this product seemed to do both. In fact, I got some on my fingers and finger nails, and while it cleaned off my skin easily, it actually left a coating on my finger nails (they looked glossed). Due to this, I think the durability will be pretty solid.
I think this is a pretty good product, but it will take a little learning to get the process just right. It was not forgiving as far as spreading even on the trim I was restoring. However, once done, the trim was much darker with a slight sheen and the unevenness of my application while visible, was not totally obvious. It did dry to the touch completely. Given the cost, and compared to many other OTC trim restorers, it might easily outlast anything else sold OTC.
I think this product could actually benefit from a thicker formulation as well as a better top to the container! With that said, if the durability is as promised, nothing at the price point it is at will touch it. Dlux will last as long but costs 4x as much. WG Trim Sealant while easier to use, may or may not last as long and is double the price. Many of the other products such as Meguiars Ultimate Black barely last after one wash. Based on that, I would recommend this product. Just be careful using the product and apply it very thin I think.
