Paint coatings have slowly taken over the detailing market as one of the most popular protection products you can buy. While they last a lot longer than a traditional carnauba paste wax or sealant, the prep time involved has turned some people off. But, why would you coat a car that isn’t already perfect!? This means removing swirls and scratches, before a treatment from a paint prep product – that’s where BLACKFIRE Paint Prep comes in.

In the simplest terms, BLACKFIRE Paint Prep will “strip” your vehicle’s paint of all gloss hindering contaminants before the application of a paint coating. This includes light dust that may have accumulated after wipe your polish off, synthetic fillers used in your polish, oils left over from your polish or compound, and fingerprints left over from yourself. BLACKFIRE Paint Prep leaves a completely cleaned surface behind.

Once your paint has been fully cleaned and prepped, your paint is ready to receive a coating. If you do not properly prep your paint before applying a paint coating, you inhibit the coating’s ability to properly bond to the paint, causing premature failure. Directions for use: Only apply to cool surfaces in the shade.

Spray a liberal amount of product directly onto the surface and wipe area using a clean, dry microfiber towel. Repeat for each panel until entire vehicle has been cleansed of polishing oils and fillers.

As the product description states this is a pre-coating prep spray. Think of this as another alternative to products such as CarPro Eraser, Gtechniq Panel Wipe, Gyeon Prep or Optimum Paint Prep.

The purpose of it is to remove the polishing oils to prep the surface for a coating, wax or sealant.

Simply spray the painted surface, wipe with one towel to remove the product and polishing oils from the surface. It will flash a bit and then come back with another towel to wipe off any remaining residue. The surface has now been prepped for a coating, wax or sealant. That easy.

The prep spray flashes off the surface similar to other paint prep products. Like Eraser, Blackfire has a nice scent to it. The scent reminds me of some sort of bubble gum.

This also works well for when prepping the external glass for a glass coating or prepping the trim for a trim coating.

Simple to use and gets the job done. Price is similar to other paint prep spray products.

Great review Guz !!!! I got a bottle as well to test. I hope to mess around with it this weekend when I am going some glass coating.

Thanks. It seemed to work just like any other prep spray. I just got done coating my brothers Tahoe with Cquartz TiO2 and used Blackfire Paint Prep instead of Eraser. Could not tell a difference between the two.

How’s the cost? These blackfire pro products always intrigue me until I compare cost to the existing stuff I have in my arsenal.
