Thanks to the Autopia facebook giveaway, I received a 64 oz bottle of Blackfire Total Eclipse Tire Dressing . I have enough tire gel to last me awhile. I decided to give it a shot over the weekend as I opted to give the car a traditional 2 bucket rather than a rinseless since it was a bit dirtier with the drizzle storms that passed through recently.

I removed the previous tire gel with Meguiar's D143. The previous tire gel was Pinnacle Black Onyx (newest forumla). By the way this is a great product. I was able to get a month out of it on 2 coats. I do recommend this one.

Up next was Blackfire which can be picked up here

BLACKFIRE Tire Gel, tire dressing, tire shine

The first thing I noticed when I opened it, is that it has a great smell. I would say a candy like scent to it. It's a pinkish color. It is a thinner consistency than Pinnacle Black Onyx and Meguiar's D163 Tire & Trim Gel which I typically alternate between. Pretty similar to the consistency of the Wolfgang tire gel. So it was a little more runny on the applicator. It spread out really easily. A little goes a long way. It gives a black finish that is not to glossy. I let it sit on the tires for 30 min while I got ready to leave for work and then did a light buff to remove any excess product just be sure prior to leaving. It was dry by that time. It did not sling. It actually dried fairly quickly after applying it and going around the car.

I only applied 1 coat on the tires.

I applied it with a Lake Country tire applicator similar to the blue applicator shown in this photo. I put a thin bead down the center of the applicator and folded the applicator onto itself to get the product spread out onto the pad evenly and not run off the applicator since this is a little thinner than the other gels I have used.

Not the best 50/50 but I hope it gets the idea across as to how it appears on the tire.

Here's a close up of the tire with nothing on it.

Here's another tire fully coated in Blackfire tire shine.

I took this one the same day after I was leaving work.

This is from 2 days after initial application with the sun shining on it prior to sunset leaving the office.

If someone is looking for a tire gel that gives a black look with not a lot of shine then this would be a good choice. I can't comment on durability just yet but I expect it to be like any typical water based tire gel of about 2-3 weeks. Pick up a bottle or pick up a sample with your next order and give it a try.

Nice review. Just did my tires this morning with this stuff. What I did before was apply a coat of the BF tire and trim sealant first. Then applied a nice coat of the total eclipse tire shine. I do like this stuff.

Great review and pictures The Guz! Thanks for sharing.

I love getting samples of this.

Thanks. I may have to give the tire and trim sealant technique a try.

Thanks. I like it so far as well.

Nice review Guz! Thanks for putting it together and sharing for us.

Really like the close up 50/50 on the tire.

Thanks.

I have a bottle of this. Its a good tire dressing, not overly shiny, but mutliple coats can boost the gloss. I think it has a cherry smell, whatever it is its very pleasant.

I also have samples of the new and old Pinnacle, Wolfgang, and DP. Along with my bottle of Blackfire All in one trim and tire protectant. That are all good.

So much better than the Armor All I was using forever! Live and learn :)

I agree with you on that last statement. The others you listed are all great as well.
