I recently picked up a bottle of CarPro Elixir. For those not familiar this is based on Merlin's Magic Elixir. For those not familiar with it I recommend searching the forum.

Elixir is a brand new product that was announced at SEMA this year. It is a quick detaler that is ready to use.

Product description from CarPro's site

To kick off SEMA 2018, CarPro Proudly presents a product that combines two of our favorite attributes! In fact the combination of function and beauty made possible by Elixir may leave you asking, “What sorcery is this!?” Certainly Elixir originated from humble beginnings…. The brainchild of a few of the most devout CarPro fanatics and “would be chemists” who asked “what if?” Close your eyes and imagine for a moment…. A product that offers the quick application of Ech2o with the hydrophobic energy of the industry leader in ceramic nano technology! CarPro took this idea and expanded on it to create an absolutely phenomenal quick detailer that provides a FAST layer of depth, gloss, and hydrophobic energy to a variety of surfaces!
With a nod to CQuartz Specialist Mike “Merlin” Moore, the name of this incredible product was a no-brainer! Beyond the incredible levels of gloss and its excellent hydrophobic nature, Elixir goes on easy as can be, applies in rain or shine, and lasts for weeks on end!
Features:

  • Quick & Easy Application
  • Ready To Use - No Dilution required
  • Great hydrophobic properties
  • Works great on both coated and un-coated vehicles
  • Versatile, works well on many materials
  • Works great even in direct sun

Directions:

  1. Shake well
  2. Spray half a panel sparingly
  3. Immediately spread even, buff in, and buff off
  4. Use a clean “final wipe” towel and check for perfection before moving to next section or panel.

From the information I have gathered, not only does Elixir contain Reload and Ech2o but it also has some Hydro2 in it. There is a version of Merlin's Elixir that uses Hydro2.

Elixir does smell like Reload but the scent is not as strong as when mixed separately.

I used it on my brothers paint after a decon wash after I had dried off the paint with the McKee's blower. I used two towels. One thing that is noticeable is that to me this was easier to use and felt slicker than the mixed version. It leaves a nice gloss as well as protection. From what I gathered, the protection is up to 1 month depending on the environment. Overall a real nice addition to the CarPro line. And the answer is no to be strictly for CarPro coatings. Feel free to use it with any coating.

For those wanting a ready to use quick detailer for a ceramic coating then go ahead and pick this up. I would still recommend giving this a try for those already mixing up their own Merlin's Elixir.

Fast forward to 5:15 for the product in use.

Thanks for the review. It's in my cart. I wanted to try it out before buying Reload and Ech2o and mixing my own.

Nice review my friend. :props:

This is indeed a sweet product from CarPro, the first shipment only arryin New Zealand two weeks ago & although I haven't used it a whole lot - the use it has had in the shop has been favourable. I like it & in term of retail in the shop, its selling well too.

I just noticed the sprayer for this product, why can't everyone use a quality sprayer like this, charge the extra $1.00, MORE than worth it and besides, we all recycle bottles/sprayers anyways, right!

You got that right. I save the sprayers off almost everything, except iron removers.

For those curious about the water beading. It looks good after the first wash. Sheeting looks good as well.

Fantastic product. Def a little better than the ech20 and reload mix as provided better beading over a 2 week period.

A little tip for application...spray onto a microfiber pad and apply over paintwork and then buff off using a korean mf towel.

I wasted a lot of product before using this method and also get less streaking too!
I still use my ech20 mix but this is def a great qd!

how does this compare to blackfire products i.e. synthetic was spray or sio2?

Silly question guys ..

How do you decide when to use RELOAD vs ELIXIR ? I am going to mix up some Merlins Majic Elixir .. have a delivery coming today :)

I am guessing with the dilution, Elixir will be something to apply after every wash ie every 1/2 weeks ?

Elixir is a detail spray, Reload is a spray sealant. Elixir to wipedown a dusty vehicle, Reload only on clean paint.

Aye .. I guess I will use Elixir for every other wash that I don't use reload or just as a drying aid, just to give it some gloss !

Use Elixir as often as you like. You will be much happier and it will give you better results than Reload.
