Hello all. It's been quite an interesting journey trying to find a good wheel well dressing. I've tried "undercarriage" type dressings and found them to be an oily mess, I've tried cheap tire foams but they always drip or run down on my garage floor, and lately I've been using Duragloss #265 Ultimate Detail Spray. I have 2 complaints about this - 1) tons of over spray floating around my garage, 2) the dressing is not easy to wipe and knock down the shine. Well I had the opportunity to try out Chemical Guys Black on Black on a recent detail.

Chemical Guys Black on Black is an aerosol dressing that applies very even and smooth, is very shiny if left alone, has no annoying odor, and very little over spray that floats around inside my garage. I applied this product to the wheel wells of a Tahoe and left it over night. The next day I wiped down the plastics and this product wiped away very easily and left behind a perfect natural look. After experiencing such ease I plan to order a case of this for the upcoming detail season so that I can add that finishing touch to my customers' cars.

Ok, on to the pictures!

The wheel wells were prepped by spraying down with Mothers Foaming All Wheel & Tire Cleaner, scrubbed with soap and water, the left to dry over night.

And this is after a wipe down of the wheel wells:

Notice how the plastic has a nice deep, black look to it? Yes it's dry to the touch!

Well that concludes this review of Chemical Guys Black on Black. If you have any questions feel free to ask. And do yourself a favor, pick this up for your next detail, you will love it!

Great stuff just expensive for how little you get.

I picked up some of this stuff about a month or so ago for engine dressing.

Careful working with it outside. If it's breezy at all there is overspray every where. I made this mistake on the HHR...was detailing the engine sprayed some of this stuff and ended up with it all over my windshield.

Other than that it's a great product!

Great review Richard. I buy a few cases of this stuff a year. It makes quick work of dressing engines, honeycomb grilles and other hard to reach places. SeaJays is right though, overspray can sometimes be a thing but it wipes off pretty easy.

Wow, never thought I would say this but those wheel wells look sweet!

Ive been using Griots undercarriage spray, works very well ( if you can find a sprayer it wont clog ), but yours are a step above for sure.

Great job. Yes, Black On Black (previously Fade2Black) is a great product, particularly for hard to reach areas. Not sure why AG's price is so much more than CG's?

Black on Black works great on those hard to clean honey comb grills. Makes them them look new fast.

3-4 weeks on grills. 8 weeks on engine bay parts.

For honey comb grill, I spray, wipe of excess, and wipe after a few minutes.

Wow! Not a marketing message I expect to see from CG on one of their small black shirts worn by their not-so-small online advertising models.

Well, it was still darker than before I sprayed the well even after the rain storm. I do like the product. It makes detailing wells easy. However, I do prefer bare bones fore wells over this spray.

Good to know. Have you tried Bare Bones on black grilles? If not, would you? I have had my eye on BB but, as with other products, seem to be over-hyped so I am waiting for a 'great' deal before buying any.

For the record, Meg's ASD is what I use right now.

No. I've only used it for wells. I use Ultima Tire Trim & Guard for all exterior plastics. Dollar for dollar, UTT&G is probably the best trim dressing there is.

Just ordered two cans of this to play with!

(Couldn't help myself and ordered some other goodies.....DAMN YOU INSATIABLE DETAILING GOODIES APPETITE)
