Chemical Guys Silk Shine
Liquid type VRT Dressing

I wanted something similar to Opti-Bond but was easier to apply. This product was definitely easy to apply. Does what it claim, Dries to the touch. I understand this product is an all around VRT water-based product so I wanted to see its durability on tires.

Prep: Clean and scrub tires with Mothers Wheel and Tire cleaner(another great product $6/24oz)

50/50 shot: LEFT is two coats of Silk Shine 3 mins interval, RIGHT untreated

Overall:
Easy to apply
Smells great too, can't think of the exact smell but almost flower like
Layerable to add desired gloss (I prefer a slight gloss)
Dries to the touch
Durability yet to be tested (I'll be doing some updates)

Thanks to Ron at Pakshak Honolulu for recommending me this great product.

Thanks for taking the time to post this review.

Does it sling off when driving?

No slings noticed, excess can be buff with towel. Dries to the touch.

my silk shine was awful and didn't even last a day and almost ruined my biggest show of the year for me, thankfully I had brought the required items to fix the issue and apply a higher quality dressing, regardless thanks for putting your review together and posting it :xyxthumbs:

I'll see if this product will hold for a week, if it doesn't I will stick back to Opti-Bond. I'll keep the product thou for interior dressing.

Its been 2 days since application, the sheen has gone but the tires are now matte black, natural look similar to opti-bond. Silk Shine is still holding up thou.

But i found a good use for the product, Silk Shine works better on rubber seals in my opinion becuz the way it hydrates the rubber and has a pretty good cleaning ability too.

Just a quick update: 6 days, 1 day rain but vehicle was not driven that day

Gloss is gone, some dust, matte finish similar to opti-bond. For some reason, different tire brands may offer different gloss level with just one coat, I applied Silk shine to a friends Rav4 which had Bridgestone tires and the gloss is semi with just one coat. I had Michelin tires on mine

So durability wise, a lot better than i expected. I'll give PERL a try when I get my hands on it next week.

I also noticed the difference in looks between tires. I achieve a gloss look a lot faster on the Firestones on my Z compared to the Conti's on my mom's Escape. This stuff works great on the plastics in my interior and under the hood though. I even use it on my PlastiDipped wheels.

I'll be saving it mainly for interior next time, sheen is similar to 303 protectant so gotta love that. Works great too on rubber seals around the doors.

CG Silk Shine worked pretty poorly for me as well. Put two coats on my tires Saturday morning, and the low glossy sheen/cleaniless was gone by Sunday afternoon. I had only driven it 35 miles in sunny conditions. It looked especially horrendous and blotchy on the smooth sidewalls of my BFG G-Force Comp2's. At least it looked good for an afternoon. Tuf Shine is now in my basket.

The most underrated tire care product in my opinion is OPT tire shine. It's newly formulated.

CG G6 product very good as well.
