I bought these back when they were on BOGO since my friend really likes them and I needed to replace my two year old Carrand wash mitt. It wasn't worn out, but I figured it was time to replace it.
First Impressions
Since I had held one before, I knew they were big and fluffy. Good start
Usage
The elastic band was too loose for my wrists, but then again I have small wrists. But, they did hold more soapy water than the Carrand, because of it's larger size. However, the larger size combined with the loose fitting wirst cuff made it so it constantly turned in my hand, not all that great.
The Real Issue
I've been using it a bit, three, maybe four washes with it. But when I went for it yesterday, I stuck my hand in it while getting it out of the drawer, and I could tell something was amiss. I'll let the pictures speak for themselves.
First, the elastic was already coming undone as the sew. My Carrand mitt has unstitched in on place, but it's been used for two years and washed many times, and it's not coming undone at the the part where I think it would be strongest, and I remember my friend telling me that his elastic had come undone on his too. But it's the next two that made me unhappy.
The entire inside lining is falling apart. It feels like a spiderweb now, and I don't know what it feels like wet since I put it back and didn't use it. I still have a new one in my closet from the BOGO, but I have a feeling it will do the same thing. Is this common practice for this mitt?
Summary
At $10 a pop, I can't suggest this mitt. Since I paid $5, I'm not as disappointed, but I was expecting a good quality mitt that would last a long time. I hope this was a fluke, but my gut feeling says it's not.
