Ok guys, I'm attempting my first review, so comments and critiques are appreciated!
Also I'm going to preface this review by saying, I am no means a professional detailer. I actually just started detailing customers cars on a regular basis last summer. My sister drove to work after I had detailed her SUV, and my phone began to ring and the customers followed! Anyways, back to the review!
Detailer's Pro Series Interior Surface Protectant:
As per the product description on the bottle:
Interior surface protectant is a long lasting protectant for vinyl, plastic, finished leather and rubber surfaces. It provides UV protection and prevents drying, cracking and fading. Treated surfaces also repel water and dirt, and require cleaning less often. Surfaces will look and feel clean, never greasy. Interior surface protectant leaves an attractive satin finish.
Packaging:
Interior Surface Protectant comes in the 32oz size ready to use complete with sprayer. However I find the large bottle a little cumbersome with large circumference and sprayer attached. So I choose to transfer mine to a 32oz spray bottle with a smaller neck. This is all personal preference.
Directions: Directions call for cleaning the surface and then either a direct spray onto surfaces or onto a microfiber towel or applicator. The blue microfiber applicator is my choice.
Application: My interior surface were cleaned with a 1:10 ratio of Megs APC+ before I applied Surface Protectant. So I was not able to test the "minor cleaning ability" that Autogeek claims this product has.
I'm a low shine type of guys and this product claims it has a satin finish! I had heard guys even say it produced a "matte" finish, which is exactly what I was looking for! But after using the product I wouldn't classify this as a matte finish product. However, this product is not armor all shiny/greasy either.
As the Protectant is applied it looks fairly shiny, but as it is allowed to dry produces more of the "satin" finish it claims. Some might also call it a "light sheen". You can somewhat lessen this effect by buffing with a clean microfiber.
Interior surface protectant does a good job of rehydrating your surfaces which in turn gives them a little darker appearance. Unlike some products I have used in the past this product is dry to the touch and leaves no greasy residue (just like the label says). I believe the dry to touch effect also may cut down on dust collection, which in turn will keep you from having to clean your interior as often (again just like the label says)!
I do use a dedicated leather product so I did not apply Surface Protectant to my seats. I did apply to my arm rest and take a 50/50 shot!
Summary: With my limited experience, overall I feel this is an excellent product that delivers everything that Autogeek claims on the label. Do I prefer a little more of a matte finish?? Somewhat, yes.... Could I live without the imitation banana smell?? Yes... But Detailer's pro series I'd regularly featured in the BOGO section. So you can pick this product up (as I did) at a great value compared to other similar products.
So at the BOGO price point I will regularly use this product as my go to for my interior surfaces. But at $19.99 (which is not bad) I may be tempted to experiment with other products such as AeroSpace 303 or maybe 1z cockpit cleaner!!
