In a recent order I picked up some of the New DP AIO Headlight Restoring Polish. Test subject is a Subaru with oxidized headlights and tail light.

Products used:
  • Porter Cable 7424XP
  • LC-43-073DA Dual Action 3 Inch Flexible Backing Plate
  • DP AIO Headlight Restoring Polish
  • LC 3 1/4 Inch Thin Foamed Wool Pads
  • CarPro Eraser
  • Optimum Opti-Lens Permanent Headlight Coating

The DP Polish and Foamed Wool Pads did an amazing on the headlights. Very little polish was needed and the Foamed Wool Pads were cleaned after each section. Before the after pictures the lights were wiped with CarPro Eraser.

For the tail light I switched to the Griots 6" and a heavy cutting pad to see how well a foam pad would work.

Products Used:

  • Griots Garage 6" Random Orbital Polisher
  • Meguiars 5" Backing Plate
  • Yellow Heavy Cutting Pad
  • DP AIO Headlight Restoring Polish
  • CarPro Eraser
  • Optimum Opti-Lens Permanent Headlight Coating

50/50 - Tail light

Conclusion:
The DP polish paired with the Foam Wool Pad or heavy cutting pad cut right through the oxidation and finished down great. All lights were sealed with Optimum Opti-Lens Permanent Headlight Coating for long protection.

Nice work! I'm looking foward to trying the thin foamed wool pads. The lenses look great, in one step nonetheless.

Great job Wors! Any reason you chose to use a PC over a Drill? Just curious...either way came out great. There seems to be some great results coming from the DP AIO Headlight restoration kit...all in one step and no sanding.

In tempted to try this now. I wonder how those pads would work with plastx.

Thanks, the foamed wool pads work great.

To avoid buying a drill backing plate. I used the PC because I always leave a smaller backing plate on it. A great AIO for sure.

It works very good. I have never tried Plastx.

Results look great. How did you clean the wool pads when you were done?

think this is really better than sanding?

It's really not a matter of which one is "better."

You should only sand if it's absolutely necessary. Sanding is considerably more abrasive than any compound, and removes a lot more material (which is why you should only do it if you absolutely have to).

For most applications, DP All In One Headlight Restoring Polish will do the trick. But if the headlights are past the point of fixing via polishing/compounding, you'll have to cut the initial layer of dead plastic (oxidation) by sanding the surface. DP All In One Headlight Restoring Polish will then remove the sanding marks, and polish the lens to perfect clarity in one step.

Make sense? :)
