Item Number - DP-600
Price - $15.99

Detailer's Pride (DP) Engine Degreaser is a very easy to use, highly effective and safe degreaser. It is an environmentally friendly cleaner free of harsh solvents and does a darn good job of removing grime. It is safe to use on plastics, rubber, metal, paint and even clear coat. DP Engine Degreaser doesn't have a chemical smell to it making it a pleasure to use.

According to the instructions, wet the engine and other items you are going to clean. Spray the cleaner and allow several minutes for it to do its job. I use a nylon brush to clean the larger flat parts and the Daytona Speed Master Wheel Brush (reviewed here)to clean the hard-to-reach areas. The cleaner is especially efficient and doesn't require a ton of product to be used to get excellent results. The 32oz bottle should last quite a while.

Not all the water was dried from the motor. It was cold out and I was ready to be done.

This is an awesome degreaser. It is safe to use on all parts under the hood and does a great job of cleaning. It is a bit expensive at $15.99 for 32oz. However, it works so well and doesn't kill you with the chemical smell most other cleaners have that it is worth it to me.

It did a wonderful job. Nice write up and pix.

Thank you. I really like the DP Engine Degreaser. I'll always have a bottle of it on hand. It can also be purchased by the gallon.

Thank You for another great review.

I think you need to slow down on these Reviewes my wallet is feeling the effect :)

Is that ice I am looking at?

Yes, Ma'am. And ice underneath the car. After living in Florida for 18 years, I never thought I'd wash a car in below freezing weather. In order to get my detailing fix, I've been forced to. I've gotten pretty good at washing while standing on a sheet of ice.

Ha Ha. I wish I could review all the items I want. Unfortunately, I don't have the funds to purchase everything.

I agree. I've used Super Degreaser in the purple bottle for years. It has such a strong chemical smell to it that at times it would choke me up. The DP Engine Degreaser is a pleasure to use.

Have you tried the DP Cleanse-All All Purpose Cleaner? I'm just wondering if what you used or if the APC is stronger.

Also, I'm wondering if you use the Speed Brush on your wheels as well, or do you have a seperate brush for that.

Looks great, I will probably get some later. I'm running out of money!

I'm guessing you didn't cover anything up before cleaning the engine. Is it safe to spray the engine with water?

I haven't used the DP APC. I use the same brush on wheels for now. I've only used it on two engines and one set of wheels. I like it so much I'll be getting another. The brush also rinses clean very easily so there's really no fear of cross contamination. The two engines I did were just dusty, not greasy or oily.

I've never had a problem with spraying the engine down, however, do this at your own risk. I am very careful at what I spray with water. There are a lot of electrical components under the hood. These components were designed to survive in the harsh underhood environment, but I don't think they were designed to survive repeated blasts with a jet stream of water. Just use common sense and know what you're spraying. If in doubt, cover it up.

Have you ever used any of the foaming aerosol engine cleaners, like the one by GUNK? How does DP compare?

DP Engine Degreaser is far superior, IMO. The foaming engine cleaners are spray on, rinse off. From my experience, things need to be agitated to really get clean. I'm a hands on type of person and don't care for the idea of spray on, rinse off whether its engine cleaners, wheel cleaners, etc.

I reckon if you keep up with keeping your engine clean and you simply maintain it with the foaming engine cleaners, it would work.

The Gunk mom-foaming Engine Cleaner from several years back was a spray on, let dwell, rinse off product.
It would dissolve most any grease or dirt accumulations that were not caked on.
The big problem I had with it was the odor. The smell seemed to last forever. Probably just a day or two, but it did seem like a long time.
It probably wasn't terribly environmentally friendly, but how good for the environment is any degreaser, oil, dirt, grease mixture running down your driveway?

My personal vehicles are not that bad since I keep the engine compartments fairly clean all the time, but...... I have washed some engine compartments over the years that did put a lot of junk into the eco-system.
I think today if I had a really bad one to do, I would go to the DIY spray wash. Their drain system has a grease trap that removes a lot of the grease/oil residue before it goes into the sewer system. At least I think they do. :)
