When I ordered a few weeks ago, I was tempted yet again by the BOGOs so I got Collinite 845 since I needed to stock up but saw DP Waterless Autowash and never heard of anyone using it so I figured I would give it a shot.

Appearance/Smell:

It is blue in color, and has a minty fresh smell which I actually like a lot. It is watery in consistency and is clear. The bottle has a nice simple appearance and the spray nozzle works very well. I was impressed by this as it was adjustable and worked great.

Ease of Use/Cleaning Ability:

It has very good cleaning ability, a couple sprays per panel will easily wipe away water spots and light surface contaminants. The only thing I noticed is that you NEED to buff the paint with a MF after because it leaves a hazy film on the car similar to the opaque look of wax haze. This comes off very easily, and leaves a fantastic finish with a good amount of slickness. The bottle says it contains no gloss enhancers which possibly means that it won't add a significant amount of protection.

Results:

It was reasonably easy to use, but it does leave that haze you will need to buff off after. This haze was not an issue when I applied it to clean paint. I think it was a pretty sweet deal on BOGO but I have a hard time thinking about how this fits in with DP Rinseless W+G because of the many different dilutions (including being a potent QD). The results speak for themselves though, as I hope the pictures will illustrate.

The left is not cleaned, the right is:

The left side of the hood is done, the right is not (notice the faint hazy line down the center):

Good review Christian! I have been using DP Waterless Auto Wash for quite sometime now, and I really like it. I really LOVE the smell...nummy. It has many uses; I use it only on clean paint to remove fresh bug splatters, fresh bird bombs, spot cleaning, under the hood for touchups, wheels for touchups, I use it for cleaning inside my boat, and many other uses.

The only waterless wash I have tried is Poorboy's World Spray and Wipe and I love it. I might give the DP a try just for kicks (it's about the same price), but does anyone sell a concentrated waterless wash? I would love to get more bang for the buck.

The only waterless wash concentrate I know of is HD Free. Though not a waterless wash, I know some people use ONR/DP RWG at a little bit stronger than QD strength also. If you want a cheaper RTU solution you could use megs last touch in the detailer line. Megs last touch is a very high lubricity QD in the US but is marketed as a waterless wash in AUS.

Thanks. I have a gallon of ONR and use it as a QD. I will try to up the solution and try it out. If anyone does this I would like to know how much more concentrate they use over the QD ratio (8 oz per gallon).

Thanks for all the great responses everyone! I don't know why I even bother being apprehensive about the DP lineup, everything I have tried has impressed me. I think that Autowash has more cleaning power that Rinseless W+G at QD strength, and leaves a stunning finish. I believe it actually added something to the look of the paint, which is impressive enough considering the paint was in great shape to begin with.

i missed getting this. I had in my cart (call it a wishlist) when it was BOGO. Something like this would seem great where some are tempted to do a quick QD clean when in reality this waterless wash would be a safer bet.

It's funny you mention that, I was ready to cheap out and remove it from my cart but I figured I would try it since I have not once seen it mentioned on here. I am sure glad I took the jump!

This is more like a QD meets ONR type product, excellent cleaning power while leaving a 'just waxed' look. Win win in my book.

Thanks for the review.

I use ONR diluted 10 oz. per gallon (2.5 oz. per qt.) as a waterless wash and it seems to work well. As was mentioned earlier HD car care makes a concentrate waterless wash (it's called Free- you dilute it 10 oz. water to 1 oz. Free). I have it and it's good also. Think I read that Optimum is coming out with a waterless wash.

I've got 2 qts of ONR coming from a clearance sale. Normally I wouldn't justify using this much ONR dilluted for anything but this waterless wash mix sounds interesting.

I still wish I would have got the BOGO on the DP. Like you said, every DP product is at least decent and many are above average.

Great review, but I am a little curious where this is supposed to slot in DP's lineup. I have DP Rinseless W&G and love it and its ability to be a QD with proper dilution. I have even used that as an impromptu waterless wash with no ill-effects. I am quessing that there is a little more cleaning power compared to DP W&G

I do the same with ONR or DP Rinseless W+G, whatever I have on hand really. It makes for a great QD for cleaning water spots and bird droppings. I have read about the Free, I just never ordered it since I have enough waterless washes as it is. I can't wait to see what ONR releases, but it will most likely be very good judging from my experience with ONR.

Exactly, I always am thankful that I buy these things but like you I hesistate when adding it to my cart because I figure 'I don't really need it, but I want to try it, but I still don't really need it' haha. You'll get 'em next time. ;)

Same here, I was trying to think about the justification for having this type of product in the DP lineup. I compared it side by side with my W+G at slightly more than QD strength and the Waterless Autowash took fewer passes with a microfiber to remove the water spots and light surface contaminants but also left a noticeable haze that you have to take a second pass with a dry MF to remove while the QD solution did not.

I am happy I have it, I will bring it to school with me to take care of bird droppings and light dust. It also works great on wheels, you literally spray it on and see the brake dust picked up in the liquid!

Every time I detail my car ('08 white diamond pearl Acura Tl Type-S) or the family car ('04 silver Honda Pilot), I break out the DP WAW.

I generally use a standard car wash concentrate for the main portions of the vehicle, then after towel-drying, I pop open the doors, trunk, hood, and gas tank cover and hit all these "hidden" areas (which are invariably still grungy) with DP WAW, using a MF towel. It quickly de-grimes these parts, leaving them fresh and clean without much fuss. The spearmint scent is as previously described on this thread; it just leaves you with a feeling of cleanness. The paint is slick and smooth when I'm done.

I too have the DP RW&G, which I like. I believe WAW has a bit more cleaning power overall.

As you can tell, DP WAW is a staple of my detailing routine, and I highly recommend it. Great value overall as well (I got mine on BOGO a while back).

Yep, BOGO is exactly why I got it! I guess my only gripe is that the spray assembly broke completely but I have the whole other bottle so when that is done, I will use the broken one as a refill. It definately has a surprising amount of cleaning power, more than RW&G in QD dilution but it still is not going to be able to tackle more heavy soiling like a rinseless wash.

I love DP WAW too! First I tried Griot's WAW and was disappointed..........it didn't smell good at all. DP and Poorboy's WAW are the way to go!

has anyone actually quit washing cars by soap and water and just use these waterless or no rinse systems.

I have been using rinseless washes for the last two years on my car and my parents cars exclusively because they work. If a car is extremely dirty, I will use a traditional car wash solution however 95% of what I do can be tackled with ONR.

I wouldn't recommend using this type of product on a car that is beyond mildly dirty.
