First I want to thank Aaron who very graciously sent me one of these to try out and review. Like the Shmitt wash mitt, the wheel shmitt fits snugly on the hand and doesn't slip even when on a lady's hand. It is a spongy texture and holds plenty of soap and water. The material is soft enough to not scratch but strong enough to do plenty of cleaning. The mitt is maleable enough to be made to easily fit into the nooks and crannies of the wheel itself but in my opinion where this product really shines is in cleaning the wheel wells. Because of it's flat shape you can reach deep into wheel wells and clean those hard to reach places that are difficult for a bulkier brush to get to. It made really quick work of the wheel wells and cleaned them well. The thickness of the material also helps to protect your hand from getting banged up or scratched while reaching deep behind the tires to clean. Like the Shmitt wash mitt, this is another excellent product from Edge and deserves a place in the detailing arsenal. :) Thank you all for taking the time out to read my review. :)

Thank you for sharing. As a fellow female, I was wondering how well those worked. I have not been completely pleased with the brush I was using. So it seems to me money well spent to order one. :applause:
Thanks, and enjoy those sparkly clean wheels!! Oh, btw, did you just use the same car shampoo as you did for the rest of the car? I have been using separate wheel cleaner. Ideas?:) Lauren

Lauren be careful with most wheel cleaners, especially those bought OTC. They use hydrocloric acid and lye as cleaning base. You should look to a good boutique wheel cleaner (DP, P21S, Pinnacle) or use soap and water as possible. Remember to treat your wheels like paint, as they are clearcoated. You can even clay, polish, and protect.

Oh gosh,Scott. :o Thank you! I had no clue!! I have been using something from EO I got at AZ. Have I done more harm than good already? in your opinion?
Lauren:)

Thanks for the good review. I really like the schmitt I got. I think I'll have to get the wheel schmitt too!

In most cases no, you probably didnt harm the wheels. That said, are they in the best of shape, again no. I would polish them with a paint polish and protect them. (DP Wheel Shield, Poorboys Wheel Protectant). Then move to a less aggressive wheel cleaner and use it sparingly.

Many wheel cleaners are also very harsh on the skin, so you wouldn't wan't to get them on the hands. Meg's Wheel Brightener (and many others I'm sure) for instance contains Ammonium Bifluoride, which is some really nasty stuff :(

Edit: Nice review btw :) And I just read your review of the wash Shmitt, think I will have to try them out.

FN, thanks for the informative review. I've been eyeing both Shmitt's since they came out. I think I may have to include them in my next order.

Great Review FlordiaNative! I too agree on the performance of the wheel schmitt. I have been using it on my personal vehicles for about a month now and love it. I have not tried it on my wells yet as I am afraid that I could pick up some tar or too much grit from there and it not rinse out to well. Especially if I am using it on my chrome. I have just used mine on the wheels so far with just car wash soap and have great results. I have a long soft bristled brush that I use in the wells that keeps my hand and nuckles safe. the schmitt does hold lots of suds and I also use it on my step rails. It does have a very snug fit on my hands that I have to keep my thumb out of the mitt. Overall great cleaning ability.:awesome:

Thanks for the review FN.!! I love my shmitt and the wheel shmitt is on my list of a next purchase!

Great review FN. I love the thing. The only thing I don't like, it's tight around my hand.

Yes I used regular wash soap and water. For really dirty wheels (not mine of course! :p ) I use DP's Gel Wheel cleaner. :)

Don't get me wrong, anybody, but in my own opinion I would use wheel shmitt only with soap and water. If you are going to use a wheel cleaner, then go ahead and use a brush.

:iagree: After re-reading my last post, I can see where I wasn't clear enough. Yes I only use the Shmitt wheel mitt with soap and water. I use my DP gel wheel cleaner with a brush. :) Thanks for catching that Supercharged.

You are welcome.:)

ForidaNative,
I'm concerned that the the ShMitt wheel mitt might be too coarse for painted wheels and would be better served to use the yellow side of the ShMitt wash mitt. Any thoughts? Thanks.

Black wheel ShMiTT has been thoroughly tested on all kinds of wheels with no evidence of any scratches at all. Painted or not, the foam is safe. It has texture but not stiffness so it does not push dirt against the surface and does not have enough texture to harm wheel paint.

This is a good review, I just ordered one. Looking forward on using it. FloridaNative good job on the review.
