General thoughts and impressions:
- Great scent. Classic Meguiars scent. Bubble gum meets Quik Detail Spray.
- While I love the scent, not sure the scent is appropriate in an executive setting.
- Consistency: Watery and bit runny.
- Cleans glass well.
- Thin clarity.
- Great reflection.
- Great shine.
- This product brings the "wow" factor.
- Showroom quality finish.
- Not a good surface cleaner.
- Product is becoming increasingly more difficult to find on store shelves at auto parts stores such as Pep Boys and warehouse stores such as Wal-Mart.

Would I recommend for auto glass:
- Production detailing: Yes.
- Personal detailing: Yes
- Surface cleaning: No.
- Decontamination: No.

Does this product live up to its advertising:
Yes. in regards to glass cleaning.
It does not create anything noticeable as a dust repellent nor gliding agent between the towel and the surface.

Final thoughts:
- Great product.
- Much better than D120.
- This product earns a permanent spot on the auto detail cart.

How is it much better than D120? Specific reasons?

Very nice review. Thanks for sharing.

Instead of linking to Walmart (against the rules), you should have linked here.
Meguiars Perfect Clarity Glass Cleaner, window cleaner, auto glass cleaner, windshield cleaner

The Wal-Mart link was intended to cite a source for information on the product that I used in the review.
Specifically, when it comes to advertising, a manufacture will state advertising descriptions differently in certain market demographics, as well as store websites.
I also use Wal-Mart as a price reference when I can't find the receipt when the product has been purchased.

I will be glad to remove the link if requested by staff.
There is a distinct difference when posting a link in an effort to cite a source or give proper credit, vs spamming.

How is it much better than D120? Specific reasons?

Good question.
The first thing that comes to mind is that it is not necessarily a fair comparison between the two products.
The reason being is that D120 is diluted down, where Perfect Clarity is in RTU form.

I typically dilute D120 down 10:1.
My first experience with it was 8:1.
This is a much stronger concentration ratio than what some detailers use, as far as I understand.

The thing that is great about D120 more than anything is the price, especially when purchased here at AutoGeek.
I have used D120 quite extensively over the last six months.
The more I use it, the less I like it.

When my supply is gone, I will be done with D120 forever.
I have a second gallon unopened that I have been trying to sell for dirt cheap to local auto detailers.
The problem is everyone has a gallon, and typically use extreme dilution ratios.
So, their gallon will probably last them 25 years, lol.

For most auto glass I clean, it is a worst case scenario.
I also primarily use rinseless wash and steam cleaning when I detail.
I do not pre-clean the glass before using a glass cleaner.
I use glass cleaner to clean and finish the glass.

Cleaning filthy dirty glass using a glass cleaner, without having washed and rinsed it first, will separate the quality glass cleaners from the less quality ones.
D120 is an average at best glass cleaner in worst case scenario situations.
D120 is more of a finisher, not a cleaner.
This is fine, if that is what suits your needs.
For my needs, there are too many much better glass cleaners available.

While the price point is higher for RTU glass cleaners, you can dilute these products down as well an get stunning results.
10:1 dilution ratios from a RTU product often produces just as good results, and in some cases, even better than full concentration.

D120 will always win on price point.
However, with the overly strong grape smell, the average performance in worst case scenarios, and the fact that it is a piss poor surface cleaner, just makes this a product I can live without.
Again, this is just my opinion.

@Vanev. Ok, thanks for the explanation.
So are you saying that when you wash a vehicle, you don't go over the exterior windows with the wash mitt? If that's the case, why not?

@Vanev. Ok, thanks for the explanation.
So are you saying that when you wash a vehicle, you don't go over the exterior windows with the wash mitt? If that's the case, why not?

That is correct.
I do not use a wash mitt, or rinse the car down, or use car soap, or RW/WW on the windows.
This is true most of the time, say 95% of the time.
There are times that a vehicle just needs a good hose down and traditional wash, and I have no problem with that.

Why?
I guess mainly because I have mostly always been mobile when I detail.
I can get a faster start on a vehicle and also create virtually no mess without a hose and bucket.
The convenience really just works for me.
Not everyone prefers this.
This also creates a better way to test all the rinseless and waterless products I like to try.
It also lends itself well specifically to the auto glass research project I have going on.

When I had access to a shop, there were forever issues with the pressure washer never working.
I also had to move the vehicles to the other side of the building, gather my cart and other supplies, and take everything away from where it was stored.
So, it always took forever to set up for a traditional wash.
Then the take down time was equally annoying.
I was wasting 20-30 minutes just setting up and taking down.
I could have 1/3 of a vehicle done in that amount of time by just keeping the vehicle inside the shop to start with.

In regards to traditional washes, I feel like you have to go over the car again a few times anyway.
Unless it is a maintenance wash, or something like that.
For my own appfroach, it works better for me to stay rinseless/waterless.
I may feel different if I had a shop with an indoor wash bay, where everything was set up at all times, and just an arms length away to reach for something I need.
I actually hope to have just such a shop.

Thank you for another informative review. Really dig the way you break it down; pretty much answered all of my questions - particularly your input regarding gliding agent. To me, it's a HUGE plus. Having to bend & twist like a contortionist, it really makes it a joy to not have to deal with grabby cleaners & towels.

D120 is more of a finisher, not a cleaner.
This is fine, if that is what suits your needs.
For my needs, there are too many much better glass cleaners available.

From my own experience, I agree. Can't beat the price, but I couldn't help but to think if it's any better than the typical windshield washer jugs you'd typically find at auto parts stores. I'm a fan of Meguiar's, just not this product.

Looking forward to your review of Mothers Revision. Of all the ones I've sampled, it's at the top of my 'over the counter' category.

What type of media are you using when using this product on glass?

What type of media are you using when using this product on glass?

I have all kinds of microfiber towels of various specs.
Sometimes it comes down to what I have available to me at the time I am cleaning the glass.

The typical approach:
I prefer to use a medium pile microfiber for the initial cleaning.
Use the flat weave side for buffing.
Finish with a waffle weave microfiber towel.

Worst case scenario:
Sometimes things don't go as planned.
The degree of dirt on the glass can sometimes effect the choice of towels I use for the initial cleaning.
Occasionally I will deal with absolute worse case scenarios.
Caked on/baked on mud and dirt, or contaminant heavy, that kind of thing.

When these moments arise, I have no issue using shop towels, cashed out/throw away microfiber towels, and even terry cloths to remove the initial layers of dirt.
This saves from ruining good microfiber towels.
Once the bulk of the dirt is removed, and the glass is clean of anything that can damage my good towels, I then will implement the typical approach.

Meguiars almost always includes a bottle of Perfect Clarity in their Christmas gift sets, and my parents usually buy one of the sets for me.

Perfect Clarity works really well for me especially considering what I paid for it. Not as good as Stoners,Sprayaway,or Surf City IMO,but it's a great product.

My perception of a streak free glass cleaner is one that is not a promblem in the sun as I'm mobile.Been using stoners for years but at 3.50 a can can be a little costly at 5 to 8 cans a week,so I bit the bullet last week and tried d120 and gotta say it's pretty dam good,my only complaint is on tint with d120 and a fiber is that there is drag, using stoners on tint was a breeze no drag.I like the smell of something different as I should of tried this product years ago.
