Well as many of you know I'm not one to start threads around here but my goal of this one is to give you and overview of Meguiar's Tire & Trim Gel so let's get started.

Product: Meguiar's Tire & Trim Gel 32 oz.

Product description: Meguiars Tire & Trim Gel is a water-based dressing that delivers a deep, satin finish on tires and trim with no streaks or slinging. The finish dries to the touch and never looks oily. Meguiars Tire & Trim Gel has a thick consistency for neater, more precise application with no runs or drips. This single product offers superior performance and water resistance on all rubber vehicle surfaces.

Meguiars Tire & Trim Gel brings together the best qualities of some Meguiars favorites. It is the return of Mirror Glaze Tire & Trim Gel with the added technology of Endurance Gel and trigger spray. This new version dries to the touch like Endurance Gel and provides superior water resistance compared to other water-based dressings. Simply put, it’s everything you want in a tire and trim dressing.

Meguiars Tire & Trim Gel fulfills the need for a tire dressing and a trim dressing, making it a great value for professional detailers. This one product provides a dark, rich finish on all rubber trim, moldings, and tires. The finish will hold up through rain showers and puddles. The water-based, VOC compliant formula provides an attractive luster and it’s safer for rubber than silicone-based dressings.

Test Subject: My girlfriend has a 07 black Chevrolet Cobalt. Her car has almost 200,000 miles on it and it was in need of a pick me up and for tire shine this was the perfect time to test out Meguiar's Tire & Trim gel.

As you can see the bottle and labeling is the same as the D300 and D301, the DA Microfiber Correction system.

Preparation: I used Meguiar's All Purpose Cleaner + and a stiff brush to agitate the tire to remove any brake dust or dirt that may have been on the tire. After the tires had time to dry here is how they looked before the application.

Application method: I used Carrand Brush & Shine Tire Dressing Applicator to apply the gel. Below you can see the gel is white in color and has a similar smell to D301 Finishing wax (remind me of a candy). The gel has a thick consistency much more thick than Endurance tire gel and Hyper dressing before and dilution.

The gel went on very easily for the most part with the brush. In the photo that amount of gel was able to do the entire tire with a good coating.

Here is a half and half photo of the applied side and non applied side

As you can see this gel does give a very satin look with one application.

Here is the tire fully done

Conclusion: At $0.75 an ounce this stuff looks great and goes on well and is very easy to use. I am looking forward to the durability of the gel since it is a water based gel. If the durability isn't great then most will be better off getting Hyper dressing if All Season Dressing for the cheaper cost. Meguiar's states that it gives a very satin look and as you can tell thats what it does. If your searching for a very wet look then this isn't for you but, if you want a very clean look with no mess or sling then this maybe a good option for you.

So does that stuff dry to the touch like Opti-Bond? Or is it greasy/slimy?

Nice write up.

Did you put a lift kit on her car? Thats a lot of fender gap. Lol

As someone who owns an 07 malibu that's the way the car sits stock. Don't know if he's noticed but the rear of my malibu sits lower than the front. I have no idea why.

I would say that after about 5-10 mins its dry. Definitely not greasy at all.

Sure thing. Durability is the main question I have with this. Its on a daily drive so I'm interested to see the results

Same here , wonder about its durability .

Well the durability was very impressive. I washed the car twice since the original application and both times I did not have to reply the gel and the tires still looked great. I would say it wasn't as shiny but still looked like a satin shine.

Gets a A from me but wouldn't use this if detailing for money just not cost effective.
