My review for this machine is long overdue. I bought it over the summer and for reasons beyond my control it wasn't until recently I had the opportunity to unpack it and actually use it.

The extractor arrived in the big brown UPS truck. Believe it or not, the driver was having trouble locating it on his truck. I asked him if he knew what he was dropping off and he showed me the slip....Mytee Lite II 8070 Hot Water Extractor....

He asked; "what sort of a box would it come in" ? My reply was a fairly large one making it hard to miss. He looked around for a minute or two and there it was, right where they put it!

The box arrived in great shape and not one sign of rough handling. Before I signed for it I checked everything over and all was good! :props:

Upon opening the box I was impressed with how organized the packing was and how well everything was protected.

What's this?

Apparently I need a smart phone to download the owners / operating manual, something I hadn't planned on. I don't own a smart phone and wasn't planning on spending $500 on one just to download the manual....

Since no manual was included, I went right to Autogeek's product page. I knew they had a nice video there and even though I had watched it in the past, I wanted to refresh my memory..

The video is toward the bottom of the page so scroll down if you choose to watch it.

Mytee Lite II Video.

Note:

After watching the video, then unpacking my new extractor something was amiss. This just looked different than the one in the video. The handle was different, the upper and lower sections wouldn't separate easily to fill the tank as shown in the video....Then it hit me.... I have the new redesigned model and the video I just watched was of its predecessor....Mystery solved!

There really isn't a lot of pieces so if you're on the fence thinking it's somewhat complicated put to rest those fears because it could not be simpler.

Push handle, basket, and heavy duty stainless steel and brass vacuum nozzle.

Something possibly new is 3 or 4 very nice insulated Velcro wraps. These not only hold both water and vacuum hose from becoming unruly but also protect my hands from excessive heat while using the business end on this machine...

Quality through and through! :dblthumb2:

Solid Brass Connections

Ball Bearing Wheels with brakes

Fully Assembled in less that 5 minutes

The photo below shows the large vacuum hose quick connect along with the easy fill opening and a handy new feature; a hose connection.

The lower tank includes an easy to open gasketed cap which makes draining any left over clean water easy and effortless.

The rear of the machine includes the controls, which are well protected, and a larger clean-out gasketed cover to easily drain the soiled water tank.

This shot shows how the suction is translated to the tank. Contained within the lower blue section of the machine is a powerful motor and turbine. When running it draws water from the nozzle through the hose and into the tank. To protect the motor below, the engineers placed a heavy screen topped with a foam filter keeping everything separated as it should be....:props:

Personally, I don't like to mix cleaning chemicals in the clean water tank. I prefer to spray on a product similar to Folex, scrub with a soft brush, then use the hot water extractor to thoroughly rinse and vacuum the dissolved contaminates away quickly and cleanly. This eliminates the possibility of left over soap residue from becoming tacky then attracting dirt and debris.

Soiled Interior Extracted!

Pro's

The new design is the result of listening to owners and users of the machine. Mytee took those recommendations then incorporated their own ideas to make this machine a real winner.

  • Great Engineering
  • Quality Materials
  • Powerful
  • Easy to Assemble
  • Easy to Use
  • Works Superbly
Con's

  • No owners manual included

My Recommendations:

  • Should come with an owners manual
  • Should include the narrow crevice tool for an additional fee of course but you'll have the tools you need right out of the box.
  • Be certain that the large tank cover on top is sealed otherwise you'll be wondering why the suction is low.
  • When through, vacuum up a gallon or so of clean water in order to rinse out the vacuum head and hose.
  • After emptying the dirty water tank rinse it thoroughly with clean water.

Winterize

  • For those of us that live in the fringed North and need to store the unit until spring how should this unit be properly prepared?
  • My thought is pouring in a gallon or so of RV waterline non-toxic antifreeze. Turn on the pump and cycle it through the spray nozzle completely flushing out any water that might remain in the system, especially the pump.
  • I don't feel the heater needs to be on when flushing this fluid through the system.

I'm not sure whether this method of protection of permissible but it seems like a logical way to ensure adequate protection.

I'm hoping someone can comment on my protection method above.....

Conclusion:

If you're on the fence about buying the Mytee Lite II 8070 do yourself a favor, pull the trigger and order one. You won't find a better more durable and well engineered extractor for the price.......and it's available through Autogeek! :props:

Nice review Bobby! Thanks. I have the previous model and after about 4 years of use is still rockin'. I have been so happy with my Mytee i will replace it with the newest model when this one dies. I really like the new features they've considered for your new model.

Nice review Bobby, I guess they beat Richy to the punch with those sleeves over the hot fittings. The only things that still bother me about this machine (other than the horror stories) are the switches mounted in such an inconvenient place and the apparent lack of a float shutoff to avoid flooding the motor.

I was eyeing up a Century 400 Sensei that has the switches high and up front, and a float shutoff. It also has separate cords for the heater and vac, so it only requires 15A circuits (don't know if that is a plus or a minus), and comes with a crevice tool...of course it's almost twice the price of the Mytee Lite.

Bobby, great review man! (A lot better than mine that I posted the same day as yours, LOL). I've got the same sleeves too, they are nice. Check out what I did to protect your hands from the brass fittings that get really hot. Glad you're enjoying yours as much as I'm enjoying mine!! Oh, BTW, I thought the bar code thingy was to register it, not for an owner's manual. It said on the sites that one was not included so I downloaded mine. On mine I also purchased the crevice tool as well as the long wand for doing inside the house.

Thanks Richy!

Boy, talk about fine minds thinking alike!

We both did reviews and essentially came up with the same conclusions. :props:

I like your idea for heat protection!

I used to have some of that pipe insulation in the garage so I'll have to dig it out and see if it's the right size. I know they make different sizes and if what I have doesn't work, that stuff's pretty cheep and easy to find.

I'll have to order the crevice tool too. When I was doing two interiors so far I feel that the crevice tool is indispensable. All in all I'm very pleased and impressed with the product and it's performance....

You guys are confusing me--aren't the blue sleeves doing the same thing as the foam pipe insulation?

Essentially yes but the pipe insulation Richy's recommending is thicker therefore protects better keeping the heat source away from your hands..........I believe...

Bobby and Richy Thank you both for your great reviews. I want one really bad but the price... Oh the price... As a hobbyist it's kind of hard to justify it. Maybe I won't get the new iphone and get the extractor. LOL

Part of what helped me justify it was being able to use it in the house. I got mine from DK and was able to order the long handled end for doing house carpeting. I don't think AG sells that piece.

I have had mine for atleast 6 years and still works great. An awesome machine.

I did the same thing..sold it to the wife as being capable for home carpets and couches and such. She wanted a carpet cleaner, I wanted an extractor we met in the middle and I also purchased the extended wand.
