What’s going on guys, CM8 6MT here with another review on an excellent product from the new Mothers 2014 line up.

The Product

Mothers B2B Heavy Duty Trim Cleaner is just that, a trim cleaner. However this isn’t your average cleaner, this product is designed as stated: Restores dull, faded exterior trim & plastic. Let’s take a look inside & see what Mothers has to offer.

Unboxing

Upon unboxing the product, you’ll notice a 12oz bottle & a brush to agitate the surface to be cleaned.

The drip-free gel comes out clear out of the bottle. It has no particular scent, so you can rest assured there wont be a harsh chemical smell.

Product Claims

This product claims it will:
*Restore your exterior trim & plastics to their ORIGINAL like new color.
*Deep cleans, erasing years of neglect. Removes oxidation, dirt, road grime & wax.
*Provides a drip free gel.

Usage

This product is designed to be used on the following:
*Bumpers
*Moldings
*Windshield Cowlings
*Louvers
*Air Vents
*Window Trim
*Wiper Arms
*Mudguards
*Side View Mirror Housings
*Door Handles
*Bed Rails
*Running Boards
*Basically, anything that’s plastic, rubber or vinyl.
Side Note: Areas to be treated don’t have to be Black to obtain superior results.
NOT for use on glossy plastic or painted surfaces.

The Application

Before I start, I want to make clear that this product is NOT a cover up. Second, this is not to be confused with the original Back-to-Black formula, which is a dressing. Once again, don’t let the name of the product deter you. Your trim won’t be masked or stained black like other products. It will restore your trim back to its ORIGINAL factory color.

On my car, I don’t have a lot of plastic trim. I will be testing this product on the little plastic trim I do have: my windshield cowling & side mirror base plates.
As you can see, my windshield cowling is dull & faded. The directions state to apply the product directly onto the brush. I decided to use the supplied brush to clean the hard to reach areas, and treat the rest of the trim with an MF towel. I thoroughly massaged the gel onto the trim, and buffed it off using moderate pressure. Its important not to let the product dry.

The Results

Below is a 50/50 comparison, I was amazed at how well & fast this product works.
Again, this is not a cover up like other products. The treated areas are fully restored to their original new condition & dry to the touch.

This side by side comparison shows just how well this product restored by trim.

Conclusion

This product is awesome, as expected coming from Mothers. Once you have restored & cleaned your trim, it’s ready to be protected by your favorite trim sealant. I followed up with Mothers B2B original formula. Some members here bash on that product. The fact of the matter is, unless you haven’t restored your trim; don’t expect it to last long. Applying trim dressing to a dirty, faded trim is the equivalent of applying wax to a dirty car. B2B works amazing, but that will be a topic of a future review. With this new B2B Heavy Duty Trim Cleaner, you can expect any trim sealant/dressing of your choice to last even longer by enabling it to bond to a perfect clean surface.

Final Thoughts

This is a definite must-have, Mothers really hit a home run with this one. They continue to impress me each year with their excellent products. The product retails at about $9.99. Even after two applications, my bottle is still topped off. I was really impressed at how little product it took to restore my faded trim back to its orignal factory color.

Let me know what you guys think!

Thanks Mike, im glad you guys enjoyed it.

Wait so you have to put a dressing on top of this? Seems odd
No its not required, but highly recommended. Just like polishing paint, you need to protect it with a wax or sealant.

Yes, but the bigger question is how long will the results last? Nice review, thanks.
Thank you. IMO the results will last depending on the type of trim & the conditions its exposed to, versus the product itself. This is why its recommended you follow up with a dressing or sealant. Like I stated above, like polishing paint you would follow up with a wax or sealant to protect that look.

This is just a CLEANER, not a protectant. If it works as well as Mothers Back to Black Tire CLEANER it should be a great product.

I agree!

Very nicely written Aaron:dblthumb2:

My thoughts from what I gather from your review.

For me the trim has to look good, even under the fender wells, if not it doesn't do it for me.

On my RAV , 09'
Ever since I bought it new I've taking care of the trim, always protected but still it lost some of its luster over the years , guess that's normal these days.

Anyway I bought the WGTS and love it, I applied it 3-4 weeks back and still looks very nice, dark and rich look but I know in time I'll have to apply the sealant again if I want the look I'm loving.

With this said I think I'll give this a try, "Restore" all of my trim and then keep it protected with the WG.
I'm curious to know if this Mother's product would do anything to my 96' GMC rear bumper, I've tried everything including the WGPS and nothing.
Maybe this is the answer, if it restores my bumper then I'd bet it would restore any trim.

Thanks for the review and the heads up. :dblthumb2:

Well even if you bought a brand new car today wouldn't you protect the trim as soon as you got it home?
I know I would and did:dblthumb2:

I just got some of the WG trim sealant. Think I'm going to try this then apply the WG. Should have a nice look for a good amount of time. Post up your results if you do that too hateswirls. Too cold here in pa right now.

What is this...."ORIGINAL like new color."

Wouldn't the "Original" color be the same as the "New Color"?

I think your over thinking it, but yes you are correct. Whatever color your trim was out of the factory, thats what will be restored. Thanks for checking out my review!

Another GREAT review, please keep the hard work
Thank you, comments like these are what keeps me going!
