My reviews on here usually suck, I always make stupendous claims. But I also always say "oh, I didn't have my phone so I couldn't take pictures, you'll just have to take my word for it" Welp, I took some here and will be reviewing all the products I used to clean my car today. I used my cell phone so the pictures are semi crummy.
DISCLAIMER: This is my 1st time using ONR+W
DISCLAIMER 2: I went to California public schools so I MIGHT have messed up the dilution ratio - lol.
DISCLAIMER 3:I never let my car get this dirty - I try to never let my car get this dirty (honest!) My battery died 2 weeks ago and I couldn't buy one until the other day. So I just let my car sit*
* weak a$$ excuse, I know lol.
Anywho on to the review, these are the products I used:
As I mentioned in my * disclaimer, when my car battery died I spent like 2 weeks walking to work and just let my car go. When I finally got it up and going I was disgusted at how it looked. On Sunday I decided to place a same day order for ONR and the towels. GOD BLESS AMERICA for same day shipping! I'm not sure if other countries offer this, I'm a typical American and don't have much knowledge about uhh, other places. But I <3 ordering on a SUNDAY and getting the order that same day. Was only a few bucks more to boot!
Before Pics - WARNING DIRTY NASTY CAR
UGH, I can't look at those! lol, I'll post some pics of what I used.
Having never done a rinseless wash I did some reading and Youtubing, apparently people are very divided on at what point a car's too dirty to safely rinseless. Welp, mine was definitely nasty. Lots of tree sap, some bird poop and dirt from the wind we had the past few days. I decided mix up ONR @ the QD dilution and spray it down 1st and let it dwell.
ONR - SMELLS FANTASTIC! It has a familiar scent but I can't exactly place it. It's sort of a fruity candy smell. I put 2 gallons of distilled water in a 3 gallon bucket and a few cap fulls of ONR. I tossed in all 5 of the blue Eagle Edgeless towels I ordered. I washed my car, and a neighbors. We used 3 towels on hers, I used 4 on mine. Honestly I have probably half of the original solution left. Her car is a '14 Corolla, so it's not a big car. Mine's obviously tiny from the pictures.
I put 2 gallons of distilled water in my sprayer + uhh whatever the ratio said online for a QD, I think 16 oz? Looking at my bottle though, it seems more than half full. Which means my California public education has probably once again fail me. Seems simple, 2 cap fulls = 1oz. 16oz = 32 cap fulls! Somewhere along the line I might have messed up here. Wouldn't be the 1st time lol. ONR's a phenomenal deal, I bought the measly 32oz bottle and will be able to wash a ton of cars with it. I'm regretting not buying a gallon, oh well next time.
My hood and trunk looked noticeably dirtier than anything else. So I pumped up my sprayer and set the nozzle for a jet. I don't know how much ONR as a QD to use. So I just sprayed a lot, probably too much. I was in the shade so I let it dwell for a few minutes then attacked it with a blue Eagle Edgeless towel I had 4 folded. 1st impression WOW I could feel the lubricity, this stuff feels sort of slimy in the bucket and on the towel. But it was gliding across my paint like butter. When I lifted the towel, 2nd impression WOW it encapsulated a lot of dirt. This left me with mixed feelings. I was obviously pleased to see that 1 long swipe with minimal pressure could pick up so much dirt. But I was also a bit stressed to see a soft, plush, beautiful brand new towel already looking ruined. I know my BF microfiber detergent will correct this. But it's always hard for me to see new towels in this state.
I was pretty amazed at how effortlessly it cut thru the bird poop and dirt. It struggled with the tree sap, but every soap I've used isn't good here. There were a few random black spots I couldn't identify that I had to carefully remove with my finger. But compared to a regular 2bm it was pretty damn close to the best car shampoo I've used at removing the dirty stuff.
I took orange Eagle Edgeless folded in 4's to dry, or buff or whatever the hell you do with ONR. 1st impression, even with me spraying the trunk good there wasn't a lot of liquid to wipe off. After I finished "drying" the trunk the towel was still mostly dry. I think I could get away with using 2, maybe even just 1 towel to buff off my entire car. Just for the sake of comparison I tossed a few of the shine & buff towels in the ONR bucket. They're much thicker and heavier towels. While they did work great for rinseless imho, they're a bit too heavy compared to the Eagles. I might still use them in the future as I have a bunch and don't want them to go to waste.
The towels are uber nice, they did lint a little, but not bad. And I suspect washing them will help here - Yeah, I didn't wash them first. I know, I know...
Prior to today I used either CG Honeydew 2bm or CG EcoSmart. I definitely prefer rinseless to a regular 2 bucket, and while a few more washes will be needed. I think I could end up liking it more than waterless.
Auto Finesse Crystal glass cleaner is good stuff, I hate doing windows because I suck at it. But this is probably the best product I've used for windows.
Final impressions - my car looks clean to me, I am highly impressed. ONR's not expensive at all, I mixed 1oz, washed 2 cars and have enough solution left to probably do 3 more. Did I do something wrong? I see posts from people who make it sound like they use 3 whole gallons for a single car. All I know is I have 2 clean cars and around half of the original amount left. I need to try some other rinseless products so I can see where this one falls. But as it stands, I really really like it. Final disclaimer - it was starting to get dark so I had to cut it short. I usually hit it with some V7 or Meg's Ultimate Paste Wax but I didn't have the sunlight left to do it
After pics
A few of the pics I see things I didn't see when I was actually cleaning it. Was a few random pieces of lint and all of it is now gone after a few quick wipes.
I'll finish with a totally random, completely unrelated picture. :hungry:
was my dinner the other night from a place called the Hot Dog Shoppe. They have like 100 different dogs there, this one was called uhh the Hillbilly something or other. 1/4lb all beef dog wrapped in bacon. Topped with Jalapenos, Texas Chili (no beans!) Mac & Cheese, shredded Cheddar cheese, Fritos & Tapito hot sauce. Was difficult to eat, but delicious so the extra effort to consume it was worth it. I know it looks pretty ugh in the picture, but if you're into unhealthy American food this was a solid 4/5. If you eat healthy the pic will probably disgust you like my car's before pictures.
