I would like to start by thanking Nick and the Autogeek staff for sending my the new line of Pinnacle Black Label products prior to their release for testing.
Today I used the "interior trio" on one of my own cars, a 2000 Pontiac Firebird. The car is a model year 2000 but only has around 60k miles, so it's not a very well worn interior. I had previously used a one step cleaner/protectant product on all of the interior surfaces.
Here are the products I am working with today:
And a general shot of the interior before I started (it's just vacuumed here):
I cleaned the passenger side door panel with the nonsense and this is how much crud I got off:
I then used the Black Label Leather and Vinyl coating on the door panel. The instructions stated to use a microfiber or terry applicator. I'm a fan of these fluffy blue microfiber applicators so that's what I went with:
Here is the door panel coated. I waited a few minutes and buffed off the residue from the surface. There actually wasn't much residue at all, it all seemed to soak in or flash over:
I did every interior surface except for carpets and leather seating surfaces with this method. A little of this product goes a long way. After a few panels, once the applicator was "primed" I hardly needed any product at all for adequate coverage.
Next I broke out the Black Label Hide-Soft Leather Cleaner. I used a new blue microfiber applicator pad:
This is all of the grime I got off of just the front passenger seat:
Here is the seat after cleaning:
The leather felt noticeably cleaner after using the leather cleaner on it. I found the consistency of the product to be on the thin to medium/thin side, but once it was sprayed on the applicator it was no problem putting it where I wanted it.
I don't know why I didn't take a picture of the leather conditioner, probably because I just used another new blue microfiber pad to apply, and another picture of that would be boring. This product has a thicker consistency, and a very pleasant fresh leather scent. I think it smells a lot like Zymol leather conditioner. I took this picture of the rear seat as I was applying it:
Inside the yellow square, no product had been applied yet. You can see the difference the conditioner makes in the look of the leather. The "glossiness" mostly goes away with a light buff after about 5 minutes, leaving a pleasant matte look which is proper for leather. The leather felt nice and soft after the conditioner was applied and the scent left inside the car was fantastic.
Here are some finished shots of the interior. Don't mind the little bits of yellow lint from my towels. I'm using camera flash to help with lighting, it did produce some harsh reflections on sharp edges.
The Pinnacle Black Label interior products were super easy to work with and gave very nice results. I think the leather duo are right up there in quality with Zymol's products though probably will not revitalize a neglected interior like Leatherique. For professional detailers, the fact this these products are safe on King Ranch leather is a big win, because that pretty much means they will be safe on anything.
I got mixed results with the leather and vinyl coating. I ended up with very little sheen on the dashboard and a higher gloss on the side of the seats, which are vinyl. I guess it's not really a bad thing since a shiny dash is a no no to me, just not sure why the results were different. I used the coating on the steering wheel as well, since it dries to the touch and is non greasy, it's not a safety concern for me.
I would definitely use all three of these products again in the future, probably not part of a standard detail, but I will keep them set aside for higher end jobs.
