Hello all,

Recently I purchased the Poorboy's World Air Freshener 32 oz. - Leather from Autogeek.net. Leather has a special scent that is usually a symbol of clean and luxury car. I believe that many members here are interested in giving the car interior a pleasant leather smell. So I decided to share my experience with this product. This is my first review on auto detailing products, comments are much appreciated.

NOTE: Scent is something very subjective. I work as a part-time fashion photographer and therefore I come across a lot of leather products from shoes to handbags etc. Besides I have experience with Japanese, German, British, Swedish, American cars with leather interior. Dfferent leather can smell very different.

Product description (from Autogeek.net):
Poorboy's World Leather Scent Air Freshener fills your cockpit with the rich, intoxicating aroma of leather. Refresh the smell of aging leather seats or enjoy the smell even if you don't have leather upholstery.

The water-soluble spray fragrance will freshen up stale air and add another layer of luxury to a well-detailed interior. Poorboy's World Air Fresheners are formulated to smell as good as a boutique fragrance but with a budget-friendly price - perfect for professional detailers.

Product outlook and packaging:

Round cylindrical plastic bottle with cap. The bottle is high quality plastic that feel very solid. Come with a plastic sprayer free of charge. It is pale yellow in color and have a watery consistency.

This is how it compare with a can of 330ml soft drink in size.

The product description is easy to understand even for non-native English speakers like me.

Application:
IMG_38171.JPG

I transferred 1oz (30ml) of the product into a brand new spray bottle.

I sprayed the product into a small MF towel and apply it on the leather interior of my Nissan Fuga. Allowed the product to air dry on leather seats.
* The leather seats have been cleaned with Meguiar's Gold Class Leather Cleaner/Conditioner spray 2 weeks ago. They are clean and have no particular smell (which implies I cannot test if the product can eliminate odour or not).

Scent / appearance:
The product has a very very faint smell of chemicals, both in bottle or applied. I can hardly notice any scent in my car after application. I cannot exactly tell what it smells like. It is not an unpleasant smell as it is so faint, but thats definitely not anything close to the scent of a new and clean leather interior.
It does not change the appearance/feel of the leather.

Conclusion:
Poorboy's World make some very good products at an affordable price. I like their Natty's paste waxes. But from my personal experience, the Leather Air Freshener is definitely a disappointing product from PB's. It cannot do what they claim on the product description. I spent $12 and expensive international shipping for a 32oz plastic bottle and sprayer. In fact, if possible I would like to return the product, but too bad I do not have any friends going to USA soon.

I hope you found this review to be useful. Comments are welcomed. If there is a way that I can improve the performance of this product, please let me know!

Overall rating:
1/10 (1 for high quality plastic bottle and good packaging)

I have the apple air freshener from PB and I don't use a MF to apply it I just spray 1 or 2 shot under my seat and at random place in the car. Yes it's smell good, but the smell doesn't last that long ( Chemical Guys stay longer ).

Remarkable review...very nicely done

Sorry to here this product delievered unsatisfactory results

Interesting. I found their scents only last about a day sprayed directly into the floor-mat. (FYI, AG does sell 3-4 oz testers of PB scents, at least for now).

I can imagine "leather" is tough to get right. "New car smell" is also a tough one based on other brands I've tried, so I usually go with "clean car smell" a.k.a. unscented.

Thanks for the review.

I would try and spray it on the carpet or floormats. I can't imagine the smell is going to stay very long on a material like leather.

I wouldn't recommend spraying anykind of air freshner "directly" on the leather

OP...did you dilute this stuff, or use it straight

I don't think anyone said to spray it directly on the leather. But I agree it wouldn't be a good idea.

Good review. Thanks.
I have used the PB leather scent - I also would give it 1/10. It doesn't last long, doesn't really smell like leather. I even tried a small flat container filled with saturated cotton under the front seat -nada. I still have some pina colada and apple samples that I haven't tried. Hopefully these will be better.

Objectivity - Call Um Like You See Um! :props:

Thanks for the review. I wonder if it is wrong since PB's leather stuff has a strong leather scent so I would have expected it to smell like that.

I have PB's cherry scent and it has familiar cherry smell (not sure what real cherries smell like in quantity). I used it on one car (sprayed carpets, air vents) and the smell persisted for good a week. The smell also permeates the cabinet where I keep the chemicals.

I have used the Green Apple and Vanilla which I find exceptional and last up to one week. It is a spray product so why would you apply it to seats with a towel? That's like applying Windex with a pressure sprayer.......wrong use, wrong application. I take your "review" with a pound of salt. A few sprays with a misting sprayer to the floorboards/carpets works like a charm, as intended.

Not with the leather scent!!!! I tried everything.

Try it yourself with a free sample before you buy 32 oz.

So maybe the leather scent just stinks? I don't know not having ever tried it but the other two are exceptional. They're not meant to be wiped on upholstery though, IT'S A SPRAY! The Op did say, wisely so, that scent is a subjective matter.

Well, I have samples of pina colada and apple that I haven't tried because of poor results with leather. I'll have to give them a triy.

I think it would be worth your while if applied correctly.

Dear all,

I tried to spray it into carpet, as well as spray it into air con vents etc. Since my car sit in garage more than driving (driven once a week maybe?), I applied it onto the leather to try to get the scent first.

I used it without diluting as suggested by the instruction. (diluting is for shampooing)

I went back to my car 12 hours after the application this morning.
The chemical smell seems to be a bit stronger with all doors/windows closed. However it is still far from a "leather scent".

I used around 1/4oz of the product.
so I still have a lot left behind that I have no idea what to do with...

I do use their vanilla scent, and both my wife and me are very happy with it, but I have never try this one.

I HAD the leather scent. BAD. Didn't last, didn't smell like leather. I agree with the 1 out of 10 ( I rinsed out the bottle)

PBs Pina Colada, Cherry, and Vanilla are my go to fresheners. They leave a light fresh scent days later, their not over powering.
