I recently wanted to try out Sonax Full Effect in comparison to my previous review of Poorboy's Spray and Rinse and Wolf's Clean and Coat which you can find by ciicking here.

Sonax Full Effect has been around quite a while and can be found at many detail outlets and runs around $16.99 for 16oz of product, I tested this product at full concentration which is recommended. I did not get it in the bottle but transferred it to another bottle I had. You can see it here in it's lime green glory.

This product works great on even the dirtiest of wheels and is great for German vehicles which are prone to excessive brake dusting turning bright wheels dark and dusty looking. If you don't know what I'm talking about next time you go the grocery store check out BMW's and Mercedes. My wheels weren't too dirty overall.

Quick before as I said not too dirty.

Here it is in action, I let it dwell for roughly 1 minute, slightly spray it it to wet it and then agitate with a Wheel Woolie. After I scrub in between spokes I rinse it down again.

If you look closely at the rotor you can see the color change from green to purple as it reacts to brake dust and other pieces of dirt.

And after cleaning

Overall my thoughts on the product are that it works great, the smell is something to get used to but I found it much less caustic than Poorboy's Spray and Rinse. It does not have as much as an acidic smell to it as well but I would definitely recommend wearing gloves still while using this product. As for cleaning it did clean less than the Poorboy's counterpart but I do say this will be my next wheel cleaning product unless I decide to pick up some 1z Colourtec and give it a shot.

Thanks for reading!

I mainly use Sonax for BMW wheels works great and here is a picture of a BMW wheel.

Great review Eric. I haven't had a chance to use this one but I always use Wolfgang Uber wheel cleaner with fantastic results on my BMW wheels.

Great review. I just ran out of sonax FE but I have a bottle of 1z colourtec to try next. I contacted 1z and they confirmed their product works well for paint decontamination too. That's great as it is cheaper than IronX.

Those wheels didn't look very dirty to begin with. I've heard mixed reviews about this product.

I have never been able to get any color change with this cleaner, except on a friend's car who wore a pad down to the backing plate on the rotor and the wheel was covered in rust rather than brake dust. Even on my car that had black brake dust like a BMW, I got no color change and it didn't work any better than any other neutral cleaner like P21S, Griot's, etc.

Thanks Mike it has no problem cutting through dirt and grime, there's so many options in the wheel cleaning market that it's hard to choose since most work so great.

That's awesome to hear how is the smell of 1z? Acceptable to work with?

They weren't if you keep up with wheels it really doesn't take much to clean them off. I'll use it on the Camaro next week which will be a couple weeks from cleaning the wheels and should be much dirtier and update.

How long did you let it dwell? I found more color change after it was misted with water and slightly agitated. Although I don't know how much of an indicator the color change actually is or if it's just an effect.
