I had the chance to try two new products this past weekend. Ultima Interior Shampoo Gel followed by the Ultima Interior Guard Plus.

Ultima Interior Shampoo Gel, interior cleaner, upholstery cleaner

Ultima Interior Guard Plus 12 oz., interior protectant, rubber & vinyl protectant, dash dressing

It took me a while to actually purchase these products because of the price tag, but it was a long weekend and I had been looking for something to use on my interior that gave a nice matte finish and non-greasy or sticky feel. So I purchased both and tried them out. I was a little disappointed when the products arrived because I felt that the foam pad applicator was nothing special. Just a piece of foam really. I don't know what I was expecting, but I guess for what it cost I thought it would be some kind of special foam applicator or something. The Shampoo Gel was nothing impressive when it arrived either. It smelt like somebody squeezed about ten bars of Ivory bar soap into the bottle. It was a very strong smell and I don't like overwhelming smells left in the interior. So my first impression was not a positive one.

Saturday night I went out to apply these products. First I cleaned the entire interior with the shampoo gel and a Cobra 530 Microfiber towel. I just sprayed onto the towel and then wiped the interior surfaces like I would any other cleaner. The smell was there, but not so strong as when I opened and smelled the bottle. The smell was not a problem and the product cleaned thoroughly and left no residues that I could find. Just a simple matte finish was left behind. I don't know what the word 'Gel' is all about. This stuff is just a plain spray liquid. The next day there was just a slight hint of lingering fragrance from the Shampoo Gel, but not so much that it was an issue. I could still faintly smell it on my Microfiber towel even after it was washed in Micro Restore with an extra rinse cycle, but I really had to put the towel to my nose to notice this.

After the entire interior was cleaned with the Shampoo Gel I proceeded to apply the Interior Guard Plus using the included foam applicator. The applicator may just be a simple foam sponge, but as it turns out, that is all you need. It worked perfectly to apply the product. I spritzed the foam pad a couple of times and wiped on the product, waited a few minutes, and then wiped off with a clean Cobra 530 microfiber. It was very easy, actually easier than applying something like 303 in my opinion. I used very little product on my 04' Audi A4. The 4 oz. size would be enough to do an entire interior multiple times.

It was late and dark so I went inside to let the product finish setting up. When I went outside the next morning I looked inside to check out the interior. It was clean, and had a matte finish. The smell was very faint and not an issue at all. Best of all the feel of the interior was exceptional. I have never used a product that gave such results. Everything looked and felt like new. I now personally refer to Ultima Interior Guard Plus as my 'Like New Spray'. Because it makes surfaces like new! The claim that surfaces feel like 'cashmere' or that you 'glide in your seats' are true. I like this combo of products so much I doubt I will ever use anything else on my interior. Notice the clean, matte finish on the temperature control panel! It looks & Feels 'Like New'!

If you have ever owned or detailed an Audi with the window switches like in the above pictures you know how they can be a nightmare. They become sticky and many of them lose their black paint because of this resulting in a interior eyesore. I have deliberately touched mine only when absolutely necessary because of this. I had a faint hope that Interior Guard Plus would fix this, but I wasn't holding my breath because I have found nothing that lasts more than a few days that accomplishes this. To my surprise and delight Ultima Interior Guard Plus made my rubber Audi window switches feel as good as new! They are smooth and not the least bit sticky.

In conclusion these are two great products that work very well and are easy to apply. The price is high, but when you look at how long a bottle will last the price is justified. The 4 oz. bottle of Ultima Interior Guard Plus is a great way to give this product a try on a budget. After seeing how well these two Ultima products perform I will be trying out the rest of their lineup soon!

Thanks for the review.

It really is an exceptional product. I have been blown away by all the Ultima products I have tried so far, they are sensational.

I would be interested to know if the UIGP (interior guard plus) helps to prolong the life of the black paint on your window switches. I've seen many Audi's in which it's worn off on and it really does look terrible - if there was anything that could prevent that it's definitely worth the investment. :props:

I will follow up with a post on the longevity of the Interior Guard Plus, but I believe that the paint on the switches will last much longer because of the smooth feel they have after the product was applied. It is hard to explain, but the switches really feel 'Like New'. I like the 'feel' of this product so much that I applied it to my EVO 4G touchscreen smartphone, and had the same great results.

I currently have Ultima Paint Guard Plus on my iPhone screen, maybe it's time to try the Interior Guard plus on my screen instead :hungry:

Very nice review Travis! UISG is my Go To Interior cleaner. UIGP was my Go To Protectant until I tried Permanon. UPGP was my favorite before I tried Opti Guard. UTTG is still a best for trim and other plastic & rubber.

Never been disappointed with Ultima...UPGP, UWW+, interior guard, and exterior (trim) guard.....all great.

Just an update:

The great smooth 'feel' is still apparent on all interior surfaces nearly a week later. It may have diminished slightly, but at this point it is still very noticeable.
