Products used for prep or during application:
1.- Meguiars Gold Class
2.- DP Universal Detailing Clay
3.- New Griots DA
4.- Lake Country Hydro Tech pad (6.5") Cyan
5.- XMT polishing pad conditioner

Method of Prep:
1.- Thoroughly washed car using Meguiars Gold Class
2.- Thoroughly clayed car using DP Universal Detailing Clay

Method of Application and noted Observations:
My first guinea pig was one of my two old Saturn SL's. Terribly neglected for many years. I know, it's sad but I have learned and allthough it is entirely too late for these 2 cars I won't make that mistake on Skybaby or any future vehicles. When I say it's too late I really mean it. They are in bad shape in the looks department but the just keep on ticking. A shame I didn't treat the exterior better for the great job they've always done. With the hours I was working and being purchased use and cheap they were for point a-b only and low on the priority list.
This was my first time using my new Griots DA as well as the first time with Wolfgang TSR. I waited till about 11:30 am to get started since we are getting some "cold" weather here. The temperature was approximately 60 degrees when I started. I did an IPA wipe on my test square. Then I sprayed the new cyan H-T pad with a couple sprays of XMT polishing pad conditioner and added a line of TSR around the perimeter of the pad. Next I placed the pad flat on the surface and with the dial set to 3 I spread the polish across the test area. Then I flipped the dial up to 6 and went to town! I made about 7 section passes and lifted the machine off the paint before switching it off. OOPS! I had just read Mike P. article here... http://www.autogeekonline.net/forum/tricks-tips-techniques/20021-tips-techniques-using-porter-cable-7424xp.html

I couldn't believe I had just done that! Being the pad was fairly fresh and at the end of that first application I suppose it could have been much worse. My shorts were dotted but everything else was a safe enough distance. Most of the windshield had been taped off so not too bad.
I set the machine on my detail table and did a wipedown of my test area. There were some serious imperfection still there but I felt like TSR had done a great job at removing the type of imperfections it claims to remove. You must remember that this car really needs a new paint job. You'll see in the pictures.... Pocs all the way through the paint. Looks like a d. derby car... I had no illusions about what the car would look like when completed. So I was satisfied with the test pass and continued to do the entire hood. After completing the hood I did the trunk lid next. I was going to switch pads to tangerine or white and run the finishing polish before doing any new panels but as I was finishing the lid on speed 6 the machine just cut off on me! I checked my plugs and tried a different outlet but to no avail. Big Time Bummer! I was just getting comfortable with it too! Anyway that kind of cuts the story short but it is important to note that I called AG immediately and they offered to send out a new polisher ASAP and email me a label to pay for shipping this one back. We talked about product failure rates in general and I was told that this was only the second time he had heard of the new Griots malfunctioning like this. Soooo... to be continued. Please see PROS/CONS and additional info AFTER the pictures.

Additional Observations:
1.-Look for a deal on this product as you will sometimes find a great one or buy both TSR and FG together (Currently 39.99 as a combo) GREAT DEAL!

Pros:
1.- Removed all the imperfections that could be asked of it in a good amount of time.
2.- Dusting was not bad
3.- Very easy to use even for a rookie

Cons:
1.- None noted

Nice write up. That scratch by your thumb and camera will need a little M105 though. I use TSR and power finsih 203 as my one-steppers.

Very nice start to your review; can't wait to read the rest of it when you get your replacement Griots. Sorry to hear about the failure of your polisher, but we all know AG will make it right!!! Good job, I really liked the way you formatted the review in the begining:dblthumb2:

Great write-up CEE DOG, just the way they should be no bs and truthful.:props:

Love the Wolfgang Combo ... sorry to hear about the buffer.

TSR and PF203=1 step:confused:Just picking on you Lou.

Nice job Cee Dog, with what you had to work with. Would like to see what kind of finish M105 would have given you.

:cry:I do spot buff bad area's first with 105 or SIP. It works better when your buffer doesn't blow up. Sorry CEE DOG. Griots nice new machine:wow:. Is that a couple I heard of already? But it had more power and AMP's than the PCXP, but less trusted I guess.

Thank you! I came up with that format as kind of a template. I plan to follow that structure pretty closely on all my future reviews as well.

I was thinking I'd try the Griots 1 for those scratches that were real deep.... Too much? What do you think?

Thanks to all of you for the kind comments
