What do you do when there is brake dust and grease that doesn't come off? What is a good product to use for the rims?

Meg's wheel brightener is probably the strongest thing out there but you have to take precautions when using it.

I've never done rims this bad, so before they make an appointment I want to know what to do.

it's acid so don't get any on your skin. If you're going to agitate, then wear long sleeves and try not to get splattered

I just tried to clean mine up. I used Sonax Full Effect and it did really good against the brake dust but didn't hardly touch what looked like little specks of road tar so I got some Turtle Wax Bug and Tar Remover (sorry guys but I needed something quick) and it did really well on the tar. They were pretty bad:

After a lot of scrubbing they looked like they were stained and I never did get them completely clean.

But the Sonax works really well on brake dust and I've been reading real good things about the Griots HD Wheel Cleaner too.
