Do you guys know if a decent auto body shop would be willing to repair major road rash damage on my front bumper and or repaint it and blend in some chips on the hood? The paint is in great condition other then the chips. I sent an email to a couple shops with pics and never heard back. I don't know if this is a specialty thing where i have to find the right shop or its just that they dont want to do it because its not an insurance job? that and they know ill be picky

I know the shop down the street from me has a good reputation but that for repairing from accidents. They never got back to me when i emailed them.

I found a little website advertising "bumper repair" with an air brush. i was thinking of calling them to but it seemed like a rinky dink operation. what would you guys do?

IMO stay far far away from any operation that claims, "air brush" touch up. Ive had some experience with this type of work and it doesn't ever look right, fails after sometimes several months meaning a correct repair the first time around would have been a better option. Find a good body shop who will remove the bumper, repair the damage, and spray the entire bumper with quality paint.

For stone chips on the hood, you could see if there is a reputable touch up shop, but again, they never seem to look great- think of it as a "band aid" type repair. Depending how severe and how many chips there are, you could find the correct color, do multiple applications of the touch up paint (to build it up), and then carefully wetsand the touched up areas, cut, buff. This would take a very long time, however, and require a careful hand and adequate experience. The only option to make a stone chipped hood look 100% is a respray.
